This issue is HUGE! An X-Man dies. And not "comic book dies". Die Dies. I discover that the back stories in the classic x-men new retconning material and so much more.
CCXCC is a weekly Comic Club where we take a look at Claremont's run on X-Men, issue by issue. I have never read the whole run and John has it engrained in his DNA. I'll be looking at it from an artist's POV and John will analyze them as a writer. Join us every Wednesday as we go through the 292+ issues of Uncanny X-Men written by a master storyteller and drawn by some if the finest talents to ever grace the comics medium.
John Coats is the writer of comics, Dino Beasts and Ninja IV: Dark Vengeance, drawn by his brother, James. He is also the writer of NINJA and M.L.F. and editor of the critically acclaimed BERSERKER series by Bludgeon.

This recap was very informative and thoughtful. Nightcrawler was the MVP due to how his teleportation and agility helped get the x-men into Valhalla Base. Colossus and Storm begin to have their awesome moments was great too but I want to talk about the ending most of all. Thunderbird’s death is one of the few comic book deaths that stayed permanent for several years and it was the intention at the time to tell the audience that this book doesn’t hold back unlike most superhero team books in regards to killing a main member. I am also sad that Thunderbird was killed cause he was a great character and he may have been killed off due to how he and Wolverine were similar as loudmouth rebels and it would’ve been interesting to see how if he had survived this mission how he and Wolverine’s rivalry would’ve developed and how different their arcs would’ve been. That’s all for now, keep up the great work.

Yeah, and I have to add how wild it is that he is so developed and how much you care about him after only three issues. They were still figuring Wolverine out and it feels like they moved Thunderbird’s traits over to him as they began to focus on him more. I say that because this far, Wolverine has hardly uttered two words.

Fair enough. I was only referencing wolverine mouthing off to both Angel and Jean and then about to pick a fight with an enraged Iceman that’s all.
