some explanation for why he killed the lion, originally Godfrey was the warrior Hoarah Loux, he came to the lands between for no other reason than to fight and kill strong opponents, when he married Queen Marika and became the first Elden Lord he wanted to appear more kingly and dignified to his subjects as well as supress his violent side, Sarosh was bound to him to keep that violence in check and keep his natural battle lust under control, so when he gets to his second phase he is acknowledging the Tarnished as a worthy opponent and like in an anime "goes all out" or "uses 100% of his power", so he kills Sarosh and coats himself in its blood to become Hoarah Loux again

Classic case of almost winning on the first pull and then eating dirt for an hour after.

Lol, Connor is like me. Chokes, then gets impatient and just gets worse with every attempt... until finally getting our act together to win

The funny thing is when you know about the lore of Godfrey, about how he has a giant lion Bonded to him to ‘lessen’ his strength. It really puts into perspective just how far Godrich the grafted truly fell in his pursuit to match Godfrey.

Neat little detail when in the cutscene The little “golden trail” you see at certain graces that point you to the path to the next boss come off Godfrey and they’re aimed at you

Godfrey, I mean GODFREY for my opinion is the greatest and the most badass "king" in the entire souls series. Compared to Nameless King or King Atlan, he is the real chad.

The comment on "imagine if I had beat him first try, you would have all said I lvl'd up to much" hits hard for me. As I had similar situation to Conner as u steamrolled the boss somehow first try and thought the dude was a pushover for awhile. Took till I fought him again in a new game that I realized I was just lucky, and now i like his character again.

Conner is literally that one kid who plays fighting games. That memorized like one decent combo and nothing else. Spams it endlessly, but gets upset when it doesn't carry in every single fight.

Godfrey in my opinion was such a fun boss fight that I did not feel once irritated throughout the countless times I fought him, I couldn't help but find him as the perfect boss, no magic, no stupid long range, no bullshit, just you, him, the sunset, and the GrAvEl

The classic get the boss down to one shot first try and then choke right at the end and then die 500 times afterwards. Happened to me as well with this boss

I can kind of see why Connor was only doing jump attacks, is because before the patches the collosal greatsword normal attacks have really wide openings leaving you open to enemy attack combos

Honestly, the cinematic where he preps for phase 2 got me thinking at frst that its gona be a 2v1 where we fight serosh and godfrey. And i dont know if thats harder than his real phase 2 ingame

I think my favorite thing about Godfrey is that he is completely human. He's not a god, or a demigod. He is just a completely normal dude. And yet he's in the running for one of the most physically powerful people in the entire game.

So I've seen a couple of videos of this guy playing...so is he just a really casual/bad player or something? He seems to have trouble with everything and gets really angry while doing little to no analyzing of the actual fights.
