I had been an avid climber and backpacker, until I lost my main adventure buddy. But I have recently gotten back into it. I used to watch your videos religiously but havnt for about 2 years. Anyway I have been listening to your podcast of recent and just want to say that it is appreciated the efforts u have put in to keep these places well kept and beautiful. I didnt even know really anything about your efforts until listening to the podcast. Good stuff!

Great series. I stayed overnight at that fire tower @2:15 a few years back. It’s an amazing place to wake up in the winter.

I really like these videos and how they are different from your other thrue hike series but still the same in some ways. The fact that you prioretised your own experience does something lovly with your video and its great seening you experience the CDT. Yooo! Love Bopit and Punisher! I hiked with them a bit in the beginning of my AT thru this year! They're awesome. Also, really resonate with the just wanting to live in the moment and focus on the people and the trail... Sometimes it's just hard to whip out the camera when that's the vibe. Great vid! Nice to see old friends featured.

I've been waiting for this video for months haha. I actually ran into you outside the Butte Walmart. I had been driving for about four days and was about to begin my first ever out west backpacking trip. I ended up having three relatively smoke free days in Idaho's Sawtooths.

I hope viewers realize the effort it takes to create these types of videos. The back and forth to retrieve and set up cameras and equipment, the actual extra time and miles you put in doing just that, not to mention making these can distract from why you are out there in the first place. Glad to see you take a break from creating to just enjoy the trail! When you said you did not know what what day it was it reminded me of the movie Crocodile Dundee when he asks Walt what day it is was, Walt says to himself "Doesn't know, doesn't care, lucky bastard" Cheers

We were in Big Sky MT when you were taking the alternate. We wondered how you were doing with the fires in the area. We had to give up on two hikes in Idaho on our way up to Gardiner bc fires. There was a huge fire in East Montana at the time too. Glad all of you were safe.

I hiked two days with Cardinal on the CT and he later sent me a few pictures that the two of you took together. It was at store/restaurant. You were brought up in conversation when we were together for those two days prior to him meeting you. It was cool when he sent me those pictures from trail of you two. He and I have kept in contact since then as well. Good dude!

@@DarwinOnthetrail Oh I'm sure it's nothing in reality compared to the total miles on the hike, but the thought made me laugh to myself. Thanks for going to the extra effort to record you travels! I never even considered a long backpacking trip until I found channels like yours. Now I'm looking to do the Colorado Trail in (hopefully) the near future.

Great hiking on the CDT In Montana. Amazing that your pack is so small it looks like a daypack. I wonder of that causes some cold times due to lack of warmth? You have this down - enjoy!

I feel ya, when i'm hiking family and friends want me to bring back great videos and pictures so they can see, but often times I would rather just get lost in the moment and my mind, rather than looking at beautiful things through a lens of a camera, see them un obstructed. on the flip side, taking videos and pictures is (to my knowledge) the only way to get paid living that lifestyle. which would be a dream for me. ~Goofy

Amazing videos! I feel sad though - it looks like there is a constant haze in the background of the scenery from the fires!! So sad to see such a beautiful place and then see the fires that are largely man-made behind them kind of ruin it :/

Personally, I prefer videos with less or even no talking to the camera. It's a personal thing, no offense. Everything else about hiking the CDT is so beautiful, no explanation necessary.

Darwin, any breathability issues with the Torrid? I have an Arc’Teryx Nuclei FL that is extremely warm for 11oz (L) but being windproof, it gets drenched inside if I am not totally static in it. By extremely warm, I mean comparable to a 100g/m2 synthetic parka, in my experience. Just wondering if you struggle with this at all.
