From a spot on top of St Thomas Mount on April 10 began an epic 2,400 km journey that mapped the ends of the country. An expedition that criss-crossed hill and vale, traversed forest and harsh terrain, from Kanyakumari in the South to the Himalayas in the North. A journey that found that Peak XV with no known local name was the tallest in world, which earned them the right to name it after the the previous leader of the expedition, George Everest.

Good to hear such news, but it seems you have combined two different stories into one and cooked it up. Sir william Lambton started his project of survey from st thomas mount in 1802 and didnt measured complete India from here. And also the monument you shown is where rock called charnockite was found very first time in the world by T H holland in 1893. These two are different stories. I appreciate your efforts of sharing such news but share the truth with clarity. You should have read that BLUE BOARD.

Wrong info friend he did trigonometric survey between Madras to Mangalore.thats width. Any ways nice try friend. While ne started to measure north wards .He died during the course of the surveys in central India and is buried at Hinganghat in Wardha district of Maharashtra.Great Trigonometrical Survey (1802-1852) was started by British surveyor Col. William Lambton on 10 April 1802 from St. Thomas Mount in Chennai to foothills of Himalayas. This 5-decade project was completed under Survey General Lt. George Everest in the year 1852.

Pl.note sir the Monument which they have shown is for Job Charnock, the founder of Kolkata city and his tomb stone now in Kolkata is of rock from Pallavaram and hence the rock has been named universally as Charnockite and the fact has been distorted in the above Y tube and is worrying us as Geologists

One of Jesus Christ's deciple Thomas came to India via Kerala to Chennai and he was killed in the Mount .St.Thomas hide and lived in two places one is Little Mount , and this Mount. So this Mount is called St Thomas mount.The place where the Saint is buried is called as San Thome.
