This is beautiful work. The technique to keep the leather tied in place is not something I have seen before. Your technique for pulling the stitch tight, moving the tape and continuing, then finishing by pulling tension in the final knot is what sets this apart as master work. I've never understood how this was done but now I am excited to give it a try on a wheel and see how I get on. It won't be perfect but I love how the videos are so thorough in showing how things are done and motivating me to go and try new skills

Wow, you are absolutely amazing. A true artist. I appreciate this skill more than I do museum type “works of art”. If you don’t mind me asking, how long does it take, a extremely skilled man as yourself who has obviously done many of these before, from start to finish? I mean from the time you have the wheel removed to having it reinstalled?

Hello Matt, I really appreciate your kind remarks! A skilled artisan (not me, I am slow and I only know how to teach some techniques) takes 5 to 8 hrs from start to finish. I have exaggerated in the video the limit time to wrap a steering-wheel because of a better understanding of my students. By having the foundations, pacience and practice makes a man develop the skill finding faster ways to perform anything.
