Mate, Lacazette scored 26 goals in Ligue 1 last season. Sell Balogun while his stock his high, insert a sell-on clause and reinvest elsewhere.

And Osimhen scored 13 (similar age). I think we all know that scoring in a 'lesser league' is less reliably correlated to performance in the EPL. It's not necessarily the goals scored or the number. It's the ability, skills, adaptability to a defined role and mental strength. Many more factors. I'd much rather him as back-up to Jesus and Kai (who I suspect will play in midfield, a 10/false 9). Send Eddie on loan. Our two main issues were defensive (particularly with loss of Saliba) and mental strength (partly the sensitivity/emotional lability-instability of Gabriel and Xhaka - see the Liverpool and subsequent games - and lack of desire to kill off games). The season was lost pretty much on those factors. The coach is also somewhat at fault here (he's done a great job overall and better than I expected, but his demeanour and volatility on the side-lines was reflected in the team at key stages). He didn't instil a desire to be cut-throat in situations where we start off excellent. We didn't display the composure and fortitude required in those times when the team is in the trenches. Edit; we also didn't rotate or make subs early enough to have the form in those sitting on the bench. At the key times, this also contributed (in-game when asked to do a job; or with injuries and asked to step-up to the first team).

But we don't know he wouldn't either. No one expected Saliba to have the impact he did after his season in the French League. Why couldn't Balogun do the same?
