Part 1: • Ced Gee on Seeing the ...
--------
In this clip, Ced-Gee speaks about his history with rapper Tim Dog, revealing that Tim came to live with him after his mother and cousin kicked him out of their homes. Ced-Gee spoke about Tim Dog battling for the feature on the Ultramagnetic MCs "A Chorus Line," which later got him a record deal. The label then wanted to build buzz around Tim by getting him to diss West Coast rappers, which he did on "F*** Compton," thus sparking the East Coast Vs West Coast beef. Ced-Gee went on to point out that NWA avoided responding to the track, despite it being #1 for two months.
During the conversation, Ced-Gee also spoke about working with KRS-One, who he says is arguably one of the best rappers of all time. He then spoke about the Ultramagnetic MCs dropping "Poppa Large," which he produced, in 2007. Ced-Gee explained that the original sampled Prince's "Batdance," and he revealed that Prince wanted all of the money from the song, which is why it didn't come out. To hear more, including how he produced an album for Bill Cosby in 2009, hit the above clip.

So Tim had no beef at all with the west coast and was told by the record company to beef. Alot of people died over something that never existed

Ced Gee is indeed a big influence in what i listen to. Cube was not dissed on F.C. In the song Tim Dog says "I crush Ice Cube, I'm cool with Ice T/but N.W.A ain't shit to me". This was when the East Coast was well enough rolling with Ice Cube because had already left NWA and was with Tha Lench Mob/Public Enemy/Bomb Squad and dropped the diss record "NO VASELINE". On another note I was getting a ride home and 1580 KDAY had Greg Mack on interviewing Tim Dog on the phone at the height of his record. Tim dog apologized to the L.A as a whole and about the line about the Gang Wars...Dumb Muthfkaz and clarified that his beef was solely with DRE, EAZY, REN rip and YELLA and not all of Compton but them. Btw Ice T is the ambassador of the West for the East. That's Kool Keith's man. Kool Keith found a home on the West Coast. I saw Tim Dog two times in L.A. In 95-97 with Tr Love and Raw Breed and in the Fox Hills Mall with Kool Keith wearing a Lakers Jersey. Ultramagnetic is one of ICE T's people's. A Rhyme Syndicate/Zulu Nation Thing. Facts!

No no no Tim Dog was the only rapper from nyc 2 respond 2 the west coast wave that was coming remember conscious rap had stop the gold chains remember stop the violence movement had taken over also buy thay time cia had meet with the record exc at that time and thus the era of gangster rap begins 2 take over he was the first 2 standup 4 NYC who wasn't even play NYC artist anymore. Beginning of the cussing era nobody got respect rhyming like that until that time. So no he wasn't a hater he was standing up 4 NYC who was in another realm and thus the Hip-Hop movement was stopped. Part of why we have the Hip-Hop we have 2day wrong people in control.

@@kooldeamenor True. Mediocre at best, and that's being generous. I remember seeing him pop-up at a Ganstarr joint in Manhattan. When he took the mic, the buzz left the room. I respect Ced to the fullest, but Tim Dawg was never a big deal in New York.

And yet 2Pac still gets the blame. Pac actually saved Tim Dog's life after he performed Fuck Compton in the Bay in the early 90's. People tore the place up and threw his dj from a balcony. Pac intervened and got Tim Dog out safely.

Man, YOU AIN'T LYING...that Group Home album had some of the most classic east coast/NYC mid 90s beats you'll ever hear. Some of Primo's best work. I would've loved to hear that album's production as the production for the 2nd Nas album before he started messing with Trackmasterz on It Was Written.

2:40, “They didn’t want no parts of Tim.” Uh, really Ced?? Plenty of diss records came out left & right WITH NO RESPONSE FROM TIM DOG, and a lot of folks realized that it was a “battle rap” and wasn’t even worth the street drama. Otherwise, there would’ve been a “Pac & Biggie” type situation long ago..
