I'm in the process of building each of the trees and now I'll make both stars then decide which star looks best with which tree. I've made the small trees and now I have 10 people ( family and friends) wanting me to make them some. Thank you for sharing your videos.

I like the 54 degree better, just because it is true to form. There are jigs that you can make that will allow your saw to cut angles further than it is capable of doing. That said, the 45 degree start is super simple to make and looks great. I think I would stain or paint the star prior to putting the chamfers in. I think that would make a great contrast and accent.
@cedarriverwoodworking

I am particularly fond of the painted star that i made at 54 degrees. Absolutely there are jigs to help cut larger angles, I actually have a video on it.

I made the 54 degree star with my 45 miter saw. Just had to make a jig to hold the boards sideways, and could only make one point of the star at a time. Probably had more scrap than if my saw went bigger, but wood is cheaper than a new saw.

Rich, I appreciate the comment and interest. I had someone offer me $250 for one of my plain trees and stars. Otherwise when I sell them, I am selling them at $150. I am in the Midwest. So not a huge city by any means. They sell like crazy and there is a great profit margin on them.

@cedarriverwoodworking
@cedarriverwoodworking 6 ай бұрын
You could but these are the recommended length for those settings. This is because if they are shorter the threads will engage both pieces of wood and won't pull them together like they are designed to.

I am in the central united states. I do sell some projects. I can do a dedicated video sometime but really I charge (materials + time)*1.2 = customer price. So these with that pricing would be $25-$30. However they could easily sell for more.
