@@definitivamenteno-malo7919 I can agree with your words to an extent. I say with this with utmost respect, but just because you didn’t like Naruto after the first arc doesn’t mean it “sucks” using naruto as the example imo is a failed attempt at proving your point. Simply because it’s one of the most successful anime of all time. Don’t have to like that fact for it to be right still. I LOVE Yu-yu been preaching that show for years since I was kid HxH to me is boring and felt half of the story was that was told was just bland rushed information, but naruto did the “same” story in a better way. Is it the greatest show of all time? Absolutely not to me but it could be for someone else. I personally believe the entire show was a solid minus a lot of the filler. If what you’re saying is to hold shows and studios accountable for “lazy writing” or “minimal effort” or even “overworking the artist” I’m with you 100%. But as much as I love yu yu it’s NOT original writing. Mazinger and devil man, Belladonna of sadness or even astroboy all have a mark in these 90s and 00s anime. Thus to my original point; all of these are similar or adapt qualities from their predecessors, let people enjoys things. Letting people enjoy things too has also created shows that people do enjoy for today. Next we are gonna say demon slayer sucks because it’s just Inuyasha with FMA relationship vibes…..👀👀

People don't understand that there's a difference between artists being inspired by others to create their work and breathe their own life and personality into it. And artists who just copy/paste a checklist of things that all manga have, like a lot of generic action shonen or isekai have. Keeping it all Naruto, the entire concept about Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade is just taken from Japanese folklore. But he brings his own spin to it to create vibrant and entertaining characters.

Suzaku from YuYu Hakusho also has a lot of Naruto Powers: Clones, Lightning Blade, Phoenix Flower Jutsu, Controls Bugs (using a Demon Flute (Tayuya)). There is also the Psychics from the last arc, one of them has the Chakra Scalpel and another has the power to immobilise people by standing on their shadow. Another one plays a word association game that soul traps if you say the wrong word (similar to Kinkaku and Ginkaku). Hiei has the power to shoot all consuming black flames and his Jigan eye has all the powers of the Sharringan. Yoko Kurama fights Karasu similar to the way Gaara fights Lee (Standing in place while his Plants (Sand!) does the work. It is also the name of the Nine Tailed Fox.

This is a good lesson: it's not that there's nothing new under the sun, it's that no work is an island. Everything has an origin point, and that origin point has its origin point. "Originality" isn't about having no inspirations or influences, because that's next to impossible. Even if it's something from your real life influencing your work, like a traumatic event or someone you love, you're still drawing inspiration from SOMETHING. It's about putting your own spin on what you're drawing inspiration from, giving it a unique identity, and making something that only you, in your time and place, can make. Only Kishimoto could've made Naruto, only Oda could've made One Piece, and only you can make whatever you end up making, if you don't just copy and paste that is.

Look at art from tother cultures, think outside the box... like, Araki come with his poses cause he love fashion, Versailles no Bara is just historical fanfiction but we remember them dearly cause they change the genre and you can feel their passion. This can really be said for not only different forms of art, but ART in general. Us as artist are beings who are inspired to make things from things that inspire. us in any form. So originality shouldn't be based on something new, but something unique. We just add out own little twist to things that inspire us, and that is completely normal in art. Pablo said it best, "good artist borrow, great artist steal". So don't be afraid to take inspo.

The only time in life where you're able to have true untainted original thoughts is when you're extremely young. This is also why however most of said thoughts are terrible. Without reference and inspiration creating something truly great is impossible at least by modern standards. The artists of today were inspirited and draw inspiration from the artists from the previous generation, those were inspired by the previous, and so on all the way back to the original cave paintings. It's part of being human, the important thing is to be yourself with what you create though. Don't just copy those around you verbatim. Make something your own while not being ashamed of the inspirations around you.
@docomega7862

Humans have told stories for thousands of years. Every single concept of story has already been told at least once. What makes your story unique is not that it's concept is "original" as nothing really is (and if it is, maybe there's a good reason why nobody used the idea as it may be terrible). What matter is what you bring to the original concept, how you use your experiences, encounters, beliefs, knowledge and opinions to shape a generic concept into something new. So, if you find the exact same story you wrote somewhere else, here is how you shoumd proceed. First, do not get discouraged by it and instead think of it as a challenge to make your story better. Then, go deeper than thinking that the plot points are the same. I'm sure your story has a little something that is unique. Maybe your character has a unique quirk. Maybe there is a relationship that is different. Once you find that one special thing, expand on it and how it affects your story. Then, write and rewrite until you're satisfied with your result. And a last advice, even if you can't find a way to make your story truly different from the other one you found, if you really want to put it out, then do it. The only thing that matters is that you are proud of yourself and your story, and for your next story you'll find something more unique, more true to you

For me, it’s more about the execution and whether it’s a sufficiently distinct work.
