Hello friends, and especially Dears, Welcome back! My apologies for the extended break; I decided to take the holidays off and had a lot of work to catch up on, which will likely continue over the coming weeks. First, apologies for the long intro! This has been a video long in the making, and I'm especially grateful to Dmitriy for his generous sharing of his time and knowledge with me. Lastly, I am hoping this stays up. I'm currently in an appeal with the label to monetize the video, as I feel I've done more than enough to transform it for fair use; they may decide to take it down, but I guess that remains to be seen. Whatever happens happens. If it is removed, I will edit to meet their standards and re-upload. As always, I firmly believe in the rights of copyright holders to make their claims, and I rarely challenge said claims. I have no interest in stealing views from Dimash and firmly encourage all of you to watch the original video - as I assume any of you watching this have done and will do. Artists like Dimash deserve the support of fans like you. He's a groundbreaking, hardworking artist, and I'm proud to have the opportunity to peel back the curtain and help viewers understand his talent a little but better. Welcome back, and I so hope you enjoy(ed)!

Cedric, I consider this analysis video to have great historical value. Not only because of all the many "firsts" for Dimash that are represented here, not only because of your unique to youtube, one-of-a-kind credentials with which to analyze this work, but because of the active participation of Dimitry, the actual cinematographer of the video being analyzed. This is an astounding, once-in-a-lifetime confluence of expertise and exposition! As someone who shares your conviction that one day Dimash will be known worldwide and he'll have a significant place in history, I'm sure you realize the importance of preserving this analysis intact, in case it's taken down. I hope you'll consider making it either publicly or privately available (by link) if we lose this unedited version on youtube 🙏🙏

This analysis was fabulous, especially with the input from Dimitri. Two things I want to point out that almost everyone misses. First The scene with the young Piper holding the bent gnomon, leads into the scene with the grown Piper at a podium where you can clearly see the gnomon resting right by his hand before the camera goes to his face, telling you exactly who this character is. Second, the growly low voice you hear when Dimash discovers the dead body of his daughter translates to a Kazakh proverb - Man is a caravan, life is a road - which explains that the scenes with the pilgrims is a metaphor for the journey we are all on, together. So when the baby Dimash turns into the grown Dimash that suggests , to me, that this child will be a leader of those who join together in many religious persuasions to go towards the light and choose life over war. The final text is from the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions where Dimash performed this piece in concert. Pope Francis awarded Dimash a medal for peace for this work. I do hope you also review the live performance Dimash did in part 3 of the Stranger concert in Almaty. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us. It is so illuminating.

Small correction: the final text does not come from the Congress in 2022 where Dimash sang, but from the previous one, before the pandemic. Then Pope Francis and the chief imam of Egypt signed a joint declaration. And it was a fragment of this declaration that Dimash used as a summary of the message of his film. In the mv that accompanied Dimash's performance at the 2022 Congress, the names of both leaders were visible under the final text on the screen. Besides, Dimash did not get a medal from the pope for this film, but as a significant figure in the KZ in the field of culture, tolerance and reconciliation between religions.

The very main point that Dimash is making, according to the speeches and interviews he gave (about this and other times), according to the words he put in the description box for the MV, is that it is up to us the common people not to allow things to get to a point of aggression, not to enable leaders to reach the crazy point, because then it is too late, all sides lose, and we end up screaming that "we choose life" when we are already "under water", drowning. He is not pointing fingers at aggression, he is making the point that any of us can end up in that situation, if we are not careful ahead of time. This is why he took it upon himself to wear a soldiers` uniform, to carry a gun, and kill, in the video - even people who don`t have a mentality that is ok with aggression will find themselves in a position to kill in self defense if we allow things to get as far as violent conflict, or war. At that point, it`s too late, and everybody loses, death and misery is on all sides of it - and exemplifies it with his character who fights in the resistance against the dictator - usually he would be glorified in a movie, but Dimash wrote the script such that there is no better outcome for either side, because in reality there isn`t, when you count the death and loss -> Dimash`s "better character" loses his own daughter, the darkest moment in the video. Dimash is really stressing the point that we have to hold on to and follow the light, and not just when we reached war, but well before. He made this point previously, when he answered in an interview about his reasons for composing "War and Peace" back in 2017 : "I wrote it for common people to realize/understand that we are each responsible for the well-being of the ones around us, if we all treat the people around us with kindness, with respect, if we all did that, then there could be no war on earth" (as a web effect that would circle the globe, from person to person) Here in 'The Story of One Sky' he makes this point again, from the beginning of the video : "we are the reason, we are causing all that pain". And he goes deeper into what we think we can`t get past, in order to really do that, be kind to and have respect for every person that we come across in our daily life : - managing deficiently the inherent pains and discomforts that are naturally occurring in our life - accumulating resent instead of forgiving and allowing for growth within yourself - and exemplifies it with the kid who becomes the future general - he is oriented towards turning life`s natural discomforts (not being chosen by someone you like) into resent, he is oriented towards accumulating and holding onto resent throughout his life - which distorts his vision of the world, making him feel justified to even lead a big scale aggression as an adult. - material gain and comfort - "learn to share the love, not shares" - the chase for financial and material stability and security shouldn`t lessen our kindness and respect towards the ones around us - religious differences - we shouldn`t find an excuse in our religious differences to consider others an enemy, we shouldn`t lose sight of the light, because, as Dimash put in the description box for the video, "No sacred book calls for the destruction of people. We must learn to be friends [...] let there be peace in the world. We are children of one Home, one Earth and one Heaven" Taking a step further beyond his explanation for "War and Peace", he is proving his maturity and awareness of the world and of human inner workings, he is not wishing passively for peace and criticizing "others" for aggression, he is making an insightful observation, that the way we deal with life and the ones around us is what makes us prey for leaders rising among us hijacking our harbored resentments and promising false redress for our grievances, is the reason we allow things to get, ever so gradually, very far, until a violent conflict, or even war, erupts. Of course, he also says in his speeches that "I have been to many countries and found that people are nice and good people everywhere in the world, and it`s some leaders that drive us to war for their own interests". But in the video, he shines a light on how us, the regular people, get to slowly allowing these leaders to push things too far. With his art, he keeps addressing the light in our hearts, reminding us not to lose sight of it during the pains of growth that life brings, to do our grieving, to allow for healing, for forgiving, for well-wishing, and for kindness towards the ones we deal with in our lives. The latest example of this are the lyrics and presentation of his latest work, "El Amor En Ti" - "The love within you" And before this, the rest of his work is oriented towards and permeated by the idea of healing, joy, saying no to falling into depression and negativity, and focusing on the good. His one song that was called "Regret", he only sang it once. The other song that he kept in his concert list that is about the sadness of a breakup, is called "Let it be", and it`s message is healing and well-wishing for the other person. Coming back to 'Story of One Sky', one minor disagreement with your beautiful analysis is about calling the crate with the compass blades a symbolic Pandora`s box. I don`t believe it`s meant as a 'reason' for what happened next, but only as a revelatory moment, a small beginning clue about the characters` orientation, as an opportunity for us to see the young Piper bend the little blade in his hand, indicating his inclination towards resent as a defense mechanism against pain (and later never putting the pendant around his neck, always keeping it bent in his fist, a symbol for accumulating resent throughout his life, which warped his mind to the point of leading a war) And another is about "Waldenberg" - Dimash is not pointing an accusatory finger at the troops who, in a final battle to defeat Hitler`s last resistance, destroyed a city. I believe that he is making the point that, again, if you let evil get too far, it will take so much to defeat and stop it. The cost of defeating someone like Hitler and his army and making sure something like the Holocaust will stop, will be extremely high. So we better make sure we`re aware that "we have passed the moment of (John Lennon`s) 'Imagine'", we better not passively hope for peace, we better make sure we never let things get too far, and we better start with ourselves and the respect for others, and respect for life, and hold on tightly to the light, even if the path is steep and apparently hard. Avoiding the hard path of love leads to the huge destruction of violence, war and death. And finally, the official quote about this video : "This clip is not about war, it’s about peace. War here is a means of expressing the contrast of what happens when we lose love for one another. It is about the call to unite, to stop dividing each other along national, social, religious lines in order to preserve life, love, friendship, and the land for our children" And also (you probably know) : The quote at the end of the video is from the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” signed jointly on February 4, 2019, by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb. Dimash met and spoke with both at the September meeting (2022), at the seventh Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Nur-Sultan (Astana), Kazakhstan. (Dimash also performed this song during the artistic program of the congress). Thank you Cedric for having another look at this important work of Dimash`s. Always a pleasure to watch one of your videos :)

Very well said. It's in the little things of how we interact with the people around us that we begin to bring peace. We say, "Don't talk about politics or religion" but I think it would be better to learn how to talk about them respectfully as our own beliefs and not try to push them on others or look down on others even if we believe we are correct and they are not. We can understand each other better. We can be free to learn from each other. We can remember that we are all people who share the world together. I think Dimash is good at this from what I've seen in his interviews. He is open about his beliefs but he freely and warmly interacts with people of all beliefs.

I really like the way you wrote your comment. It is very well done. About the Piper of Hamelin, yes ... we tend to follow the nice music from the religion, the politicians and dirigeants with innoncence, believe that the thing will be better. The enchanted piper of Hamelin need to be falling and we will stop to follow the trailing as Dimash said. Thanks again for your wonderful comment.

That is the grandiose and impressive result of three years of compositional work by Dimash Qudaibergen. This clip is not about war, it’s about peace. War here is a means of expressing the contrast of what happens when we lose love for one another. It is about the call to unite, to stop dividing each other along national, social, religious lines in order to preserve life, love, friendship, and the land for our children. Story: The clip is divided into several parts. The first is about childhood. The main character and his 2 friends are linked in eternal friendship through childhood stories and a symbol (necklace). One day, the friend saves the protagonist when he is drowning. However, there is already competition in this children's story as the boys are in love with the girl and she chooses 'Dimash'. The pendant is a gnomon, the shadow hand of a sundial, which also served as a sea compass before antiquity. Uniform wearers wear this symbol on their heads. So it can't work. The second experiences a kind of nervous breakdown and transfers the children's problems into the world of adult totalitarianism and struggle. By becoming President, the antagonist (Piper - in reference to the 'Pied Piper of Hamelin') carries within himself the idea of a war to save: “Only war will lead us to peace. Only the strongest can find love in their hearts. You must be strong enough to give freedom to the world. A world where every city, every home is one. We will guide all who are ready to start this new life. Anyone who resists has no business with us. I choose freedom. The world is open to me and I want to give it to you. War for the people is the way to unity.” The main character also speaks of unity, of peace, but through the lens of kindness and love. While fighting, he is confused, he is in shock, but he has to save his family - his pregnant wife (the very girl from his childhood) and his daughter. Once home, he is horrified by the picture of the dead and realizes that his family is also dead. After surviving this drama, he moves on to the antagonist to seek revenge. However, the Protagonist’s wife survives with the help of people who know that she is the one who must give birth to a special boy who can save the world. These are people of different nationalities and faiths who have united for peace. A parallel line of pilgrims are people of different religions, walking the hard path to some place of power where they could unite and discover the Heavenly Eye that would illuminate the world. By uniting, they create a common energy in which the protagonist’s son is born, as Hope and Faith for the Better. Their journey is a symbol of faith in general, because it always goes through trials. When we go to the truth, we go through certain lessons and our way to God is difficult, but only possible if we come together. The words at the end of the video are from the "Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together" signed by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb, on February 4, 2019. Dimash met and spoke with both men at the September meeting. Producer - Dimash Qudaibergen Script - Dimash Qudaibergen Music - Dimash Qudaibergen Lyrics - Liliya Vinogradova (she also wrote Passione, Ti Amo Cosi, Olimpico, etc...) Directed by - Alina Veripia DimashAli Director - Kanat Aitbayev (Dimash’s dad) Dimash Qudaibergen’s 12-minute work is dedicated to the unity of people on our planet. We are all divided into races, nations and religions, but we are all children of one planet and live under one sky. Life is the highest value. No sacred book calls for the destruction of people. We must learn to be friends; it is impossible for a few adults to cause millions of children to suffer. The future of our planet, the future of people is in our hands, let there be peace in the world. We are children of one Home, one Earth and one Heaven. (description box, Dimash news, astanatimes) My opinion: The whole song is an outcry. Dimash's unmistakable emotionally charged voice draws you into the video. I was totally hypnotized. My heart aches because of the wars and misery in this world. The greed, envy and intolerance of men will wipe them off the face of the earth if they do not come to their senses. Children and women are targeted victims of annihilation and rape in wars. But they are not just victims or mothers. They are half of humanity. Where are they? Why don't the women climb the mountain side by side with the men and head towards the sunrise and a better future? I only see men running mercilessly past a collapsed comrade-in-arms. Nobody helps him. What future can such a humanity await? Will anything ever change? *** Pope Francis awarded a commemorative medal to Kazakh singer Dimash Qudaibergen during the Pope's visit to the Seventh Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions September 14-15, 2022 in Astana/Kazakhstan. On September 13, 2022, Dimash performed his new song 'The Story of One Sky' at the concert held for convention attendees. The music video premiered on September 24 at Dimash's meeting with fans in Almaty. A few days earlier, Dimash said he had just shot 'the world's most expensive music video' to compose it. There are two unexplored things I've noticed about the video. These observations are based Dimash's long interest in the light and dark aspects of every individual, or the shadow self that Karl Jung studied so extensively. Notice that child Dimash on the beach has a scar on his left cheekbone, approximately in the same location, size and shape that Dimash in real life has a scar on his right cheekbone. Soldier Dimash in the video has a wound on his left cheekbone where child Dimash on the beach has the scar on his left cheekbone. (This raises questions about the actual timeline of the video, what's past or future, or un-anchored in time, as with the eternal wanderer theme that Dimash often visits in his concert staging.) Then, there is the dictator's corpse, laid out on his light table in his final frame. His arms and legs are in the exact position of unconscious child Dimash on the beach before he's resuscitated. Except the dictator's body is laid out in mirror image - head pointing in the opposite direction of child Dimash on the beach, arms and legs in mirror image. I'm guessing that the implication is that both Dimash and the dictator are aspects of one individual - the shadow self. I think there's much more that's philosophically embedded in this story than is apparent on the surface. Dimash is an unusually complex man, spiritually and psychologically. He will meet you where you are, or challenge you to learn and grow.

Yes, it is as you say, so sincere. An American who is used to living in freedom does not react the same to war and to this moving testimony from One Sky as a Ukrainian who is desperately fighting for his freedom...One, who feels kind and pacifist, what decision would he make in an extreme situation like this...? Understanding or misunderstanding, hate or compassion, Dimash presents us with these contrasts to illuminate the shadows in our hearts. That's exactly the comment I said in another video where someone commented why Dimash wanted to study something else that has a possible distraction to his singing career. I just see that Dimash most probably wants to get involved in his MV's as much as possible without relying too much on other people's knowledge and idea. I have a feeling that if he could do it all himself, he would've done it but just like any other hardworking people, he will only be satisfied if he has as much involvement in his own work.

or the life in paradise on earth, if we all decide for love and going into the light, our divine inner light, that is within everybody. Just listened to Eckart Tolle this morning, who explained in this context the wordds of Jesus' you are the light of the world', for me its rather that, though I presume that Dimash is not excluding the idea of reincarnation. He himself is an angel, who has been sent to us, to understand and decide which way we want to go. LOVE from Germany 💕

Thanks so much, Cedric - and I'm glad you took a short break, as you've been almost as busy as Dimash!😉 It was great to see you in the chat too, as I often miss premieres due to temperamental tech - and I was more than happy to actually be able to contribute for once, lol! May I ask if you'd kindly react to Dimash's latest, «El Amor En Tí»? He has this habit -at the moment- of releasing songs that immediately become my new favourites, and this one (as always!) has me *obsessed* - I just can't stop singing it around the house! And the staging is just EPIC - but for now, I'll say no more! ;) Thanks again Dear friend, and take care - and hydrated! Sending much love and best wishes for you and yours, from the other side of the Pond :)❤️ WE'RE CHOOSING LIFE! 🇬🇧❤️️🌍🌏🌎🤘️💕🕊️

Very much looking forward to this! You always put so much work, effort and time into your analysis, they become little master classes. Your reaction videos are perfect examples of fair use in my opinion, not only are you making something completely your own, but you are also adding great value. Even as an ardent Dear I always learn to appreciate Dimash's music and music videos even more thanks to your insight. Hopefully there is a swift and positive outcome for the appeal. It's a matter of whoever is responsible for this part of the business making the right decision; we do know very well that Dimash himself is a supporter of reaction videos, having even posted fragments of reactions to this very song on his own IG account. Thank you Cedric, for keeping up your excellent work. The MV itself is a complete work of art and shows the depth of love and respect Dimash has for his audience that we are entrusted with it, to analyse, understand and appreciate. Oh My God, what a wonderful analysis, even a vivisection of this masterpiece!😍 But I would like to know even more and more about what was going on there during the production of this film. Cedric, maybe you can interview Dimitri? Please🙏Personally, I would LOVE to know how the photos in the water were shot (the ones at the beginning, with the drowning boy, and the ones with Dimash screaming)? Was it a special pool? And where? How did the crew and actors prepare for it? What are the ruins you can see in the background of the drowning Dimash? I had the impression that you skipped this section on purpose, and yet it was probably the most difficult to film, next to catching the Sun in the mountains, of course🤔😉 Any chance we'll ever find out what was going on in that water? 😋 Thank you, hugs and waiting for your next analysis. God bless you, Cedric, kisses from Poland💋💋🇵🇱

Dear Cedric, Wow, thank you so much for this extraordinary, additional analysis on this music video. What a huge job! It is always exciting to see your reactions, especially because you are not only familiar with the music craft but also with the film craft. And I think it's just great that Dimitri talked to you about his work on this masterpiece. I don't know how many times I have seen this music video and I admit that I am still very moved by it. Dimash and his team have created something truly extraordinary. It's interesting that you mention Dimash's English. It's a big point of criticism among some KZfaqrs who share their reaction videos to his songs and I'm glad you're not one of those who harp on the not-quite-correct pronunciation at every opportunity. Sure, it could have done better and give Dimashs biggest critics one less gripe, but in this context I think Dimash's "Dinglish" is even better than polished English, because it creates more closeness to those who have something to say on the subject first hand. In this way, Dimash lends his voice to all those who suffer the most from all the armed conflicts, and of these, few are likely to be native speakers. Nevertheless, it is essential that this message is heard and understood, so it is clear why a language was chosen that is still most likely to be understood worldwide. By the way, I was very surprised to learn a few weeks ago that Dimash will be studying "directing" in the US for a while. It had been known for a long time that he was planning to study abroad, but I had rather thought of something more in the direction of music. In any case, I am very curious about Dimash's further career. I'm also looking forward to more reaction videos and analyses from you. After all, Dimash uploaded a song in Spanish a few days ago and he is currently making a music video that is visually quite scifi 😍👽🤖. Lots of love from Switzerland 🤗😘

Beautifully done and I love the insights shared by Dimitri. Your conclusion at the end was similar to mine: while remaining open to other possibilities I felt that Dimash at the end was portraying the grown-up baby son of the Dimash character who was killed in the war. This photographic analysis fits perfectly with the vocal analyses you shared in the first video and extended here as well. So impressed at your treatment of this master work. I love to watch you commenting this song again! So many interesting information! Thank you! Here some information you can like to know: This song is a "modern" multicultural interfaith Requiem (the traditional Requiem is a song for the Mass of the Dead in the Catholic Church. The best known requiem is by Mozart I think). The Requiem usually has 2 parts: one mourning death and the other celebrating life. Dimash says in a low voice: Адам керуен, өмір жол. Man is a caravan, life is a road. (Kazakh proverb) So for me, the caravan is his (and our) inner world. Religiosity is in us, the religious man dies when a part of the soldier (Dimash) dies when he finds his daughter dead. So when he seeks revenge, there's a storm. Death follows death: Piper dies but the soldier (Dimash) dies too. Death is not the answer. His son joins others in seeking peace. That is the final answer. Hug from Brazil 😍🇧🇷

Always love your reactions. You always put a lot of thought into them and makes me look at things a bit differently or see stuff I hadn't noticed. I would suggest you watching (as a reaction or otherwise) Dimash's performance of the song at his Almaty concert. There is a really good fancam of it called "Dimash - The Story Of One Sky - Live Version - Almaty Concert 23.09.2022 Full video (Fancam)" put out on the channel "Dimash Vietnam Fan Club". You can tell he puts his heart and soul into this song. Thanks again.

From the first time I viewed this I interpreted the flock of people of all religions to be symbols of faith. They appear right when Dimash' character encounters the house where his family was, and he must struggle with the meaning of it all. When he finds his dead daughter, I think his faith dies and the wandering man, the symbol of his faith, falls down and die as well. In the shooting scene the flock is struggling as both Dimash character and the Piper have to make some fatal choices. When the baby is born, the faith is restored and continues with all the other religions to move against the light that is common for all of them. I also wonder if the Piper actually made a turn to light in the end. There are tears in his eyes when he holds the symbol looking up to the heavens, and then he goes to open the gate without weapons, don't try to run or fight, and he don't even cry out to his protectors for help. Like all great art there are numerous ways to look at this story, and none are wrong. Thank you so much for your in debth reaction and explanation. It's great to see how a professional sees it!

Congrats on the reaction! Well, some considerations: (1) The artifact that the boy found in the trunk and that was turned into necklaces is a "gnomon", a needle for a sundial (a rustic device for keeping time); (2) The name "Piper" (piper, or piper) is known as a synonym for "dictator", "despot": This originates from the tale of the "Pied Piper of Hamelin" (folk tale rewritten by the Brothers Grim), where a piper was hired to deal with the rat infestation of the city of Hamelin (Germany, 1284). After hypnotizing the rats with his magic flute and drowning them in the Weser, the artist went to collect the amount owed (one coin per head) and was not paid (they alleged that he did not present the "heads" of the rats). He then hypnotized one hundred and thirty children from the city of Hamelin and locked them in a cave. Yeah, well, the "pied piper" (also called "ratcatcher") has become synonymous with the tyrant who uses a mesmerizing speech and leads to death! (3) The term "Imagine" refers to the song of the same name by John Lennon; (4) The final text is part of the document generated at the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, held in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) on 09/14/2022 and was attended by Pope Francis, representing the Catholic Church.
@klikakate
@klikakate Жыл бұрын
Small correction: the final text does not come from the Congress where Dimash sang, but from the previous one, before the pandemic.

Hallo Cedric Respect the time you put into this and also consulting with Dimitry Volmer . It was a little much to completely understand but intersant for me as a viewer. The statement of Dmitry "I didn't want to make a movie about the war But showing how dirty war can be" succeeded perfectly One Sky remains aesthetic but hits deep. The contrast to the realistic images in the concert is that those images are harder,but not intimate . Your explanation of how everyone experiences One Sky differently in emotion depending on where your cradle has been..peace or war democracy or oppression. Thank you so much for your warm words and appreciation for Dimash's work. Since you discussed body language extensively beautiful and recognizable just want to add when the Piper was shot and lay on the table it was the same position of little dimash on the beach in mirror image . Big thanks stay healthy Kind regards from the netherlands 🇳🇱🌷🌷
