Thanks for the help, it's about to be summer and my 4 yrld niece pulled the chain to my fan off. We're no longer speaking to each other...

OMG you manage to be hilarious and yet helpful at the same time! From the sneeze and nose sniffling that follows, to the funny running comments, to putting the bottom back on while the fan is spinning ( sorry that made me giggle too), I loved the whole thing! Thanks !

A million thanks! My pull chain broke the other day, and I didn't know what I was going to do- short of calling an electrician. You explained the fix-it very clearly. Thanks again.

Thanks for the demonstration. After searching youtube on how to fix a ceiling fan chain, I found my self watching some guy actually showing how to lengthen or shorten the chain...what an idiot...very glad I found this video next! This is exactly what I needed to see.

YAY! Thank you so much! It looks easy enough to fix tomorrow. Let me ask you this, the light switch hasn't worked for while and I didn't worry about that, however today I pulled the fan switch a bit too hard and off it went. The problem is that the fan was on high speed and now it is too dark to switch off the breaker. Im sure the answer is use several blankets....but is there any other way to turn down this freezing fan? Thanks...Lady fixes everything (or tries)

It turns out that my unit takes four wires, and I cannot find a suitable replacement unit. I'm not playing with the wiring (which I assume is what you mean when you mention the house burning). I'm just trying to snap the unit back together in the right orientation. I've opened it & replaced the chain. Everything is in order, except that when I opened the casing the plastic rotor popped out. Now I cannot figure out what the orientation is supposed to be.

Just replaced 3 speed fan switch with same ( it was a L-1-2-3 push in wire set up) . Replaced wires exactly and the 3 speeds work perfectly but on the 4th pull, it won't turn off!! It just repeats the low-medium -high fan speed. I double checked everything. What did I do wrong, or is the switch defective ? Thanks.

Correction: Upon further review, there are 4 speeds. It goes High-High-Medium-Low, then repeats. Still will not turn off.

Hey everyone, just solved my previous problem. Yesterday, guy from Home Depot gave me a 3 or 4 wire 3 way switch to replace my old switch. Went back today and returned 3/4 wire switch for a 4 wire switch, went home , installed it & everything works perfectly. On a side note, earlier in the day, I called Home Depot about my problem, and a so-called electrical mgr told me to just "switch around the wires and that might do it". Glad I didn't follow HIS advice.!

Can anyone help me? I've just experienced this problem yesterday where I pulled the chain an it broke off. I know where tge problem is and how to fix it but I'm having trouble taking the clear case off the top of the switch box. There are two release tabs on the side but it won't come off! I've tried using pliers as well and nothing. And I don't want to fix a problem by causing another one (breaking it off) anyone got any ideas?
@nancyracies88246 жыл бұрын
You started out well but for someone whose never done this before, you assumed more than I knew. I could do without the sneeze and "I'll be right back" every segue. You did not show HOW to afix the wire caps. I needed more info.
