O.O is so catchy for me it's scary, I randomly reheard it on tiktok like a month after it came out and now I honestly couldn't pretend to dislike it if I tried lol. Like yeah it's weird and a lot for a debut, but it's also super one of a kind and they're not even the first group to do the whole "multiple genres in one song" thing (4th and 5th gen song producers really seem to like doing it so I don't think it's going away anytime soon). Plus not every song needs to be "good" and being experimental doesn't automatically mean something's bad, they can just fun earworms and sometimes that's all they wanna be. It's all just music at the end of the day, y'know?

I've noticed recently that it's veary easy to get caught on the toxic side of the kpop fandom, specially while being on places like twitter or tiktok where people always have something negative to say about everything and everyone, and you can kind of forget why you got into kpop on the first place: it's just so fun. The colorful videos, the over the top styling, the weird songs, the almost cringy dances, fangirling over your faves, talking about new releases with other fans, it's all so _fun_ and most of the time not meant to be taken as seriously as many people do today. So thank you for making a video appreciating kpop as it is, without dumb complaints or hate, just pure enjoyment and admiration!

I think the shame that comes from liking kpop is because its main perceived audience is teenage girls (key word is perceived because the range of people liking kpop is actually way more diverse) and anything teenage girls like is seen as bad or less valuable by society. I actually wrote an essay about that and why it is like that (spoiler alert: it has a lot to do with misogyny) this semester and used kpop as my main example!

I 100% agree. There is definitely some misogyny behind it. Boys and men being obsessed with sports is totally socially acceptable. The money they spend on games, on merch, how emotional they get over it. IT’S THE SAME FUCKING THING.

i love this video so much, you don’t understand. it helped me being less ashamed of being a kpop stan. sometimes we just need to sit back and enjoy kpop… for simply existing! taking a break from all the drama and scandals. sure we fight a LOT, but at the end of the day, we are all kpop stans and fans alike, who just.. like these teens and adults who dance and sing! thank you for making this, i love you (maybe im overreacting… ahaha..)

As an older fan of kpop I get some pretty strange reactions when people find out I like it, but kpop literally saved my sanity during the pandemic (I got into it 1 month before the shutdown), and to this day brings me so much joy that idgaf what people think. I drove 12 hours to see Ateez by myself and it was awesome! I am driving 6 hours to see P1Harmony next week and will drive 8 hours to see Stray Kids in July. Worth it!

@@hannabieder3486 I have now been to 5 concerts by myself and have had great experiences at each. A lot of people are like me and don’t have irl kpop friends to go to concerts with. The last concert I was at there were 5 of us sitting together that were all there by ourselves. The first couple concerts I was pretty shy and didn’t talk to anybody, but the last ones I did, and everyone I talked to was so nice! Just ask someone who their bias is, instant conversation starter!

I used to be, back when it was even more of a niche interest than it is today. I’ve been listening to kpop since 2009 and I’m 30 now and honestly don’t give a shit. But I’ve grown to feel that way about most things that give me joy. Must be something that just comes with age - life is way too short to be ashamed of the things that bring you joy.
