Black and Puerto Rican children from all over the U.S. came to Washington, D.C. for Black Pride back in the early 90's on Memorial Day weekend. You would see so many good looking Black and Puerto Rican men all over the streets of D.C., and especially in DuPont Circle during that time. Black or Afro Latino gays never felt welcome in the mostly dominated white gay male clubs or Gay Pride. Robyn Holden formerly on WHUR would have a big picnic in Rock Creek Park for Black Pride on Memorial Day Monday. Monday night, the last night of Black Pride, the children turned out at the old Tracks nightclub in Southeast.

Things haven't changed much. Discrimination in the LGBTQ community is still prevalent, they're just quieter about it.

I love it when they get gay black men to lead the black pride celebrations! Make me feel like we might actually have a future!
