You will never know how much it meant to me to see you guys decorating the tree together as a family. It brought back so many wonderful memories years of my children and how special I always tried to make it for my family. I remember popping corn to string with cranberries, candy canes and each year a different theme for them as they grew older. I lost my oldest child Christopher May 23, of this year he was 49 from AML cancer. There are many of us that have grown old ( I am 70 yrs old) and our children doesn't visit at Thanksgiving or Christmas anymore, sometimes not even a phone call. It is heartbreaking, but we are very thankful we have each other. My husband and I have a beautiful Tree and we make a lovely Christmas Dinner together building Christmas Memories. Sending Love and Blessings to you and your wonderful family. ❤

Thank you so much 💗 Your posts celebrate The Love of Family and Faith in God, Loving and supporting one another😊💖🙏I broke my ankle in 2 places and needed surgery about three weeks ago, so not sure how much decorating will get done. But, we celebrate Advent, the weeks leading up to Christmas with a lighted Advent wreath and my husband set that up with fresh branches from the yard. I will put a nativity set up with his help. Your posts bring me Joy and Peace🙏❤️Christmas must be celebrated in our Hearts when we can,t celebrate in the ways we want too.❤️

Sara……ask someone to cut you a pine branch. Put it in a vase or some container and find small things to decorate it…..Popcorn strings, paper chains. Just because you can’t decorate a large tree any longer doesn’t mean you can’t have joy & Christmas spirit in something that is manageable for you!! ❤️ 🎄 Merry Christmas!!

@@raspeight22 thank you! I do have some treasured decorations sitting around and have shared many tree items that have gone to family. In a few days, I’ll pick up a green living plant to decorate and probably a poinsettia. It was just that the tree just seemed to make me sad even though I love the memories. I have a leprechaun snowman that was given to me by a secret Santa at work about 25 years ago. He’s pre ious, and sitting like he does every year.

Not only are you a good cook, but even more importantly, you are a good parent too. Your family stays together and is involved in family stuff, this is the way that a family should be, not scattered all over the country, but together and close, if I had a family, this is the way that I would want my family to be too!

My wife and I were talking the other day about Christmas when we were kids. we both grew up in families that didn't have a lot of money so our trees were always cedar trees because they're plentiful here in east Tennessee and will grow in rocks, fence rows, or just about anywhere. Now we go up to Boone, NC and get a fresh cut tree at one of the farms and spend way too much money on something that will end up in the lake as a fish attractor. I told her my grandpa would roll over in his grave if he knew what we spent for a tree every year but we both enjoy it and God has blessed us so it's one of those things we splurge on. I told her next year we should go cut a cedar tree and she said no way, they cut one when she was a kid that was full of bagworms LOL! we both had a good laugh. I told her we'd only need lights if it had bagworms, they look like little ornaments. Thanks for your videos, I really enjoy them. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

When I was but a wee lad, Mom bought our pre-cut Christmas tree off a lot in Westminster, Md., where we lived, about 2 weeks before Christmas. She trimmed it with two strings of lights, having about, all told, 30 of the old style thumb-sized bulbs which were all backed with shiny metal reflectors so it looked like the tree was full of light. She had about three boxes of Shiny Bright glass balls, with the price tags still on the boxes, I'm sure she had bought the first Christmas with Daddy. Finally, she draped heavy lead foil tinsel from every branch. A simple, frugal Christmas tree, but a vision of Christmas that dazzled before my eyes. She always took the tree down on New Year's Day, even saving every strand of the tinsel for our next tree.

In 1960 my mom let my brother and me pick out a tree with $10.We picked out a tree, me driving, that had to be delivered on a flat bed truck! My mom took one look at the size of it, went into the kitchen and shut the door! Our ornaments went on about 1/4 of the tree so we hung cards, kitchen utensils, and popcorn strings all over. Johnny Mathis was singing on the record player and my boyfriend came over with a ruby ring and asked me to marry him!!!I said no but we stayed friends for years. We left this gorgeous tree up until March and vacuumed up needles until the next December when my brother and I did not get to go pick out a tree!!!!!This happened in Alabama.

I've given my son an ornament every year since he was born. Some years he got more than one as ither people may have given him one. There's a baby's first Christmas, a collie, Harry Potter, Mario, a McDonald's kid's meal, lots of NC State ornaments, a baseball, and last year I gave him one with donkeys (we have 8 donkeys). This year I want to give him one with a Scrabble theme. He and I enjoy playing that. He is 28 now so he has more than 30. Last year I put only his ornaments on our tree. I was a teacher so I have several from former students. I can still tell you the name of the child who gave me my first ornament as a teacher! I have a first Christmas together ornament from 1985 when I was dating my late hubby. We married in 86. I love my ornaments!!!

I should have had Kati come do my lights. I hate doing the lights. She did a great job. You all did. The tree is beautiful!

This video made me happy! I remember back when I was (much) younger and my family would decorate the tree together. And Tipper, my parents would say every year, “it’s the prettiest tree we’ve ever had”. lol Now I say it, but decorating isn’t as much fun because I do it alone now. Thank you for sharing your special family time with us!

I really enjoyed this video . When l was teaching one of my favorite books was “A Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree “ about a little girl who lives in the NC mountains her family is in charge of cutting down the church’s tree .., her father is away fighting in WW1 so she solves the problem with her mother , venturing into the mountains at night. The illustrations are beautiful. The author , Gloria Houston, was raised in the mountains and attended Appalachian State University,. If you aren’t familiar with the book l highly recommend it . Back to your video , l loved watching your video , your tree is beautiful !
