@@agent00puffball everyone talks about weaponizimg cap space but these kind of deals are rare and are usually done along lines of personal relationships between different front offices, I wouldn’t hold my breath that the flames get any free picks. No one wants to take on contracts as evidenced by the skinner and campbell buyouts. If weaponizing cap space was so easy or desirable your flames would’ve taken a contract like that on. I think teams are against it after the flames got cooked trading monahan

AHL minimum age is 18 by Sept 15th of the current/upcoming season.

The under 20 rule for the AHL is part of the NHL/CHL contract, of the player was drafted from one of the CHL leagues they cannot play in the AHL until after they are no longer eligible to play in the CHLs, players who went either through European leagues or of the NCAA can play in the AHL at 18 following being drafted

That's the CHL not wanting the AHL to poach all their talent Also to add to that, the NHL had the draft age at 20 until the WHA had theirs at 18 to siphon NHL talent. So the NHL had to lower theirs and never increased it since that would really make 1 draft class full of over aged undrafted players nobody really wants

They have enough veterans who are also great with the young guys.

Calgary's very clearly already rebuilding, even if they haven't said it. They have the most cap space in the League and have already traded away their #1 goalie. Plus, they've been acquiring draft picks since the end of last season. Conroy's plan is already in motion.

Didnt calgary trade their first round pick next year for montreal to take monohan. So i wouldnt even wanna tank next year

I don't see the flames being a last place club either but I don't think they will make the playoffs. There will be a couple of teams that will need to shed salary and/or players so Calgary becomes an interesting partner who could take advantage.

And this is why I limit what I cover because then more demands are placed on my time.
