It's always a treat when people put in the time for these comparisons, we'll done mate. It looks like you kept the amp settings the same for both which is great but I think every speaker inevitably has to be dialed in uniquely. In my opinion a birch cab with g12t75's (1960a) sounds incredible followed by vintage 30s and greenbacks, depends on your goal of course. Sadly, I sold my 1960a and bought the Harley Benton 2x12 with vintage 30s and a poplar box. It sounds a little brighter than expected because at the time I thought only the speakers mattered but the wood is just as crucial if not more. The cost of a quality cab is quadruple because birch has become so expensive and other manufacturers use mdf or poplar and most people just look at the speaker model

Thank you for doing this comparison. It was perfect since I have the origin 20 head and need a speaker for it. Outstanding job and I really benefited from it!! I kind of liked the greenback tone myself.

You are welcome! And yes, the greenback suits the amp much better in my opinion too, especially now its had a little time to bed in properly.

I put an Eminence legend in my 50 combo. It sounds great. The midnight speaker is very poor!!

Great comparison between two iconic speakers. Are you still enjoying the Marshall Origin 20 head? Any issues with it at all that you've come across? Every review says they are a great tube amp and great an outstanding pedal platform. Cheers!

Hi there, yes Im still loving the origin 20! I take it with me every week for band practise! No issues so far, and BAGS of clean headroom for pedals if you want it!

Hey mate great video, as its been a year now since you did this video what's your thoughts on the speaker swap. I'm looking for a 60s blues tone myself, I'm considering swapping the speakers in my origin 2x12 cab. Any thoughts?

One year on and I have no regrets. The greanback matches really nicely with this amp in my opinion. Much warmer and rounded than the V30. Cant recomend highly enough 👍🏻

The thing you noticed with the greenback is because it's a new speaker and they need to break up before giving you the actual sound that they have the potencial for :) still it had a nice sound!

Yeah after a couople of weeks of playing its sounding brilliant and O much prefer it to the v30. Suits the amp alot better

@@noisemerchants1022 Did the sound change significantly? I am currently looking to replace the random Jensen I got with the cab with Vintage 30, Greenback or maybe creamback. Based on this demo V30 would be definitely the winner but if greenback was completely new that is a whole different story

@@emossg not massivly after a couple of weeks, its hard to discribe really, but it just sounds fuller and more rounded out. Tbh, the V30 never sounded bad, but i wasnted somthing that started to break up at lower volumes, which the greenback does with this amp. It also dost have so much of a frequency bump in the high mids as the V30 which to my ears is preferable

I'm considering Vintage 30s because I want to jump into modern sounding metal with my Orange amps but wanting to maintain a classic rock sound with my Origin. Do you think v30s are a good choice for me?

Hey man, thanks for watching! To be honest, I dont really know alot about modern metal as its not really my bag, so I couldnt posibly comment from experience - however, I have it on good authority that alot of metalheads like V30s. I personally didnt like them at all with the origin, i feel like the greenback is a much more "classic" kind of sound. Sorry if thats not really very helpful!
