Celine answered why she was attacked so much in the 90's. The music critics sent to her concerts were Rock and Roll critics! Of course, they are not going to like ballads! They vilified her but look at her success!. She's still relevant and in demand, worldwide to this day! Literally! New residency in Las Vegas begins on November 2021. The new movie she is starring in and singing the song, in Text For You (the word is she wrote the song ?) The writer of Play Me Like a Love Song confirmed it will be released (but unable to say when). A new French album is coming. In 2022, her massive world tour will continue. Her You Tube account has garnered 1 million new subs in 1 year! Amazing for a Legacy artist!

This is one of my all-time faves of Celine's! As far as your 3 questions go, I think her voice is appreciated. But, I think her personality is attacked way too much. Yeah, she's a bit of an eccentric. But aren't most extremely talented and unique performers? Listen, she's got some amazing pipes. Period. And as a singer myself, that's enough for me to want to keep listening to her. On another note, real quick, I just wanted to say how thrilled I am to see here on KZfaq so many from your generation looking back and really enjoying the powerhouse singers I grew up with. Very cool! BTW, I saw you've reacted to some Barbra Streisand songs/vids. But when quickly scanning thru your vids, I didn't see her "Somewhere". Celine is one of the least controversial, most hardworking and humble artists on the planet. All of that, while also having the voice of an angel and one of the highest number of sales in music history. and when you're all of those things, people end up picking the silliest reasons to attempt to challenge that. it's nothing to really pay attention to.

@@methosimortal So true! One of our worst qualities here in the US is that we love to build people up, but then knock them down harder later. Celine's a smart girl. She knows how to deal with what comes with celebrity status. But still she is human with feelings. I feel bad for truly good people who have to put up with truly bad people. It sounds heartless in a way, but being a professional singer myself, you realize early it all comes with the territory. You learn very quickly to just shut out the negative. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be open to constructive criticism. But all the unfounded hate, it just isn't worth your time to respond to it. There will always be trolls under anyone's bridge. But if your ignore them and don't let them bother you, you take away their power... Your Power of Love! 😉💕
