Cell Activator Experiment! Can't get Australian Floetrol? This is COOL!

Another fluid art inspirational video! After getting a tip from a fellow fluid artist out of Canada, I decided to go back to the drawing board and just experiment a bit with TriArt products! If you don't know, already, fluid art, Co has started selling TriArt. What I've done is mixed, one part high viscosity try art acrylic paint with three parts of their glass polymer. Ultimately, I love the result! It definitely has a different feel and dries differently than the Australian floetrol. This is just another option if you're unable to get yourself a bottle of Australian floetrol.
The first time I heard of TriArt paint was from legendary fluid artist Callen Schaub. If you have yet to be sucked into his world, I highly recommend it. He is a genius.

Sara you are my inspiration in going forward with my art. I may not be doing fluid art (I need some 1 on 1 time tutoring with you to learn). But the magical beauty that you create is just so very inspiring, emotional (this made me tear up)and gives me such a natural high. Such great information about the polymer. I find it interesting that the cells have an organic feel and the fact it is sitting on top is very interesting! Would love to see more works with this combo! This one is stunning! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the information! It's great to know that there are options out there. Someday, I want to give "bloom" painting a go. However, I still use a cell activator in a lot of my paintings. I'm moving up in the world😏😁 I just bought my first Australian floetrol last month. This painting is really dynamic. The colors mixed and melded into a very interesting and beautiful way. I love the drama you create with the composition and use of negative space. I'm still a work in progress when it comes to leaving the right amount of negative space. It's kinda funny that I love negative space in a painting, yet I can't seem to pull that off in most of my paintings. Good thing I love learning and the whole process. Oh wow Sara, the finish to this painting is beautiful, so glossy and the colours are so vibrant. That’s a great cell activator! Have you tried Amsterdams pouring medium as a cell activator? I picked some up from Amazon last year and was going to try it after I read reviews that it was as good as Aussie floetrol. I’ve not used it because I have been too sick to try any painting but wondered if you’d tried it? So good to see another upload Sara, I’ve missed you. Looking forward to seeing the commission work. 🙏🏻🌻🌻🌻

I see that it results more of boulder cells and not the usual smaller round cells that Australian Floetrol gives? But, it is beautiful. I don’t mind boulder cells. They look different.

I did 2 bloom paintings ( because I love yours so much) and used Zinsser water based latex extender instead of floetrol, and artist loft titanium.white as CA and it worked well for me. I have used Pebeo colors as swipe colors also. And that works well. I hope you guys can find what else works as CA beside Amsterdam black and white, so we can tried it too. Much love ❤

I’ve never used cell activator in the form of silicone. Some people do use silicone in fluid art, because it creates cells within the painting.

Hi Sara! This experiment is very interesting! your are talking about the Tr-Art Polymer Medium Gloss, right? And you’re using it instead of Aussi Floetrol as a CA? I saw that tri-Art also have the product in low viscosity: that’s not the one you used here, is it? By the way, I love this painting!
