White blood cells are like the military of your body. The provide a defence system against invading pathogens that could harm your body.
Lymphocytes are responsible for the production of antibodies (and memory cells for immunity). Phagocytes are able to engulf cells and break them down.

Thanks for this. I feel i'm now adequately educated to lecture every single person I know on COVID 19.

Just ask the ones giving vaccine advice about lymphocytes and phagocytes, if they can't answer don't take them seriously..... Till now i haven't come across an advocate who does ....

Crazy that a video on youtube explains this much better than a university level lecture
@antondonovan2810
@antondonovan2810 3 жыл бұрын
Have you considered that you only find this much better than a university-level lecture because this is too basic? A lot of details in this video that aren't wrong, but overly generalized. If you're finding university-level lectures too complicated, chances are you have some major gaps in your knowledge, because university degrees like nursing degrees have assumed knowledge and generally don't deliver high school level content. This video good for high school level biology, but when it comes to university-level knowledge, this is way too simple even for year 1 nursing student.

@@antondonovan2810 you've placed fear in me of what's to come in a few years when i actually had to learn that level of complicacy..

Some massive over simplifications, those 'antibodies' are B cell receptors too. The soluble form is an antibody but this is incorrect.

what happens to what the phagocyte excreted after engulfing the pathogen? is it somewhat beneficial to our body? or just a mere waste?
@Science_Sauce
@Science_Sauce Жыл бұрын
Phagocytes can present the pathogen’s antigens on its own surface after phagocytosis. This helps other cells of the immune system to also fight the pathogen.

@@Science_Sauce ah, the cytotoxin t cells? so the product never really was excreted out of it but just used as a signal to alert white blood cells. thanks for replying.
@Science_Sauce

A large portion of the pathogen byproducts is released from the phagocyte. Only the antigens are presented.
