Rangers regained top place in the league as Brian Laudrup scored the only goal in an action packed game. Laudrup scored early after a mistake from Brian o'Neill and in the second half both Paul Gascoigne and Pierre van Hoijdoonk missed penaties while Peter van Vossen had an incredible open-goal miss. There was also an apperance from the original 'Fox in the Box'.
