This and KINGPIN were the first movie posters I distinctly remember seeing behind the candy counter in my first year of seeing movies at the theater at age 6, wondering why Marv and Ray Stantz were kidnapping Blankman.
This is such a great statement. I don't know anyone else who would mention Blankman. This made my day. lol.
@TroubleToby3040Ай бұрын
Everybody else is mentioning Blankman *BIG shrug* but "Kingpin" is a comedy classic. My favorite Farrelly brothers film, over both "Dumb and Dumber" AND "There's Something About Mary".

The chemistry of the main 3 crew was what always made this movie for me. They seem like they had a fun time making this and probably shooting the sh*t after hours. Damon as a straight man always works for me, he was really likeable and talented.

This reminds me a lot of The Cable Guy, a comedy that gets more horrifying the more you think about it.

@@tylertheguy3160 I always found it kinda odd how turned off Roger Ebert and other critics were at its dark comedic tone. Like yeah it is about a guy who stalks people due to having no friends, but Dumb & Dumber had jokes about rape, selling a dead bird to a blind kid, and fantasizing about impressing a date by tearing out a bad guy's heart. It isn't as if Jim Carrey went from Disney films to playing a serial killer.
@YTKeepsDeletingAllMyCommentsАй бұрын
@@tylertheguy3160 I wasn't trying to argue and was trying to make a joke. I agree though, It's obviously a comedy but to someone like me with social anxiety The Cable guy character frightens me, someone that attached and stalkerish.
@tylertheguy3160Ай бұрын
@@IsmailofeRegime I agree. It's a pretty dark comedy but it's not like it's a David Fincher movie or something like that. And for the most part Chip was still pretty much in line with the kinds of characters Jim Carrey typically played.

This one's not my favorite of any of the three but it's still a dang fun movie with good heart and soul. They really enjoyed making it and it shows in the camaraderie they had. Damon for me is one of my all time favorite comedy leads, Blankman and Major Payne I watched a ton as a kid, still love them. Stern I watched in Bushwacked all the time, and Akryoyd was Ellwood Blues, seeing this as a kid blew my mind. My mom wouldn't let me buy the tape and it took ages until I found it again.
