i think Maireads' performances will be viewed & enjoyed for centuries, like mozart & bach are now. she is exquisite. i can't wait till she plays in my town next year.

Mairead is my favorite member of Celtic Woman simply because she is able to multitask (play and dance) so effortlessly. Celtic Woman is at its best when she's doing her things and the other members are singing together.

Paula Najera dude...... I can barely STAND in heels.... let alone walk.... forget that dancey, jumpy, springy mess she does.... I'd die. also can't play the violin. but the heels seemed like the more important thing to address....

What amazes me most about this SUPER talented lady is how well she can play different types of music for the violin. If you get a chance, go to the Celtic Woman website and watch one of her inteviews where she plays Bach and other pieces. Hmmm, I wonder what the audience would think if she was playing Bach and started to dance around like she does here??!! A TRUE JOY TO BEHOLD !!!!

look, I am 19, and have been through 2 years of college. I have been playing since i was in the 4th grade. When you put your mind to anything, you can get where you want to go. Dont let anyone try and bring you down. If your heart says that you want to be this good, pick up a violin...pick up some lessons...and practice every day and night. I play many instruments, but started on the violin...

I always love when they pair Mairead's fiddle with bodhrans, perfect combination of sound. I do hope they keep Ray and don't change the percussion section with all the cast changes Celtic Woman has been making. It wouldn't be the same without him.

No, bare-bone performance does not bother me:)) because she does it so well!!!Very musical, entertaining, and full-hearted. The girls are really pretty-and although I am a girl ,I enjoy watching their pretty hair, close, and lovely performance...:)
@1sorryham12 жыл бұрын
@puntuto82 Well, I for one, am *very* sure that she was playing live. I have heard her do this from close-range (2nd row) and it was pretty clear that she was playing as she moved rapidly across the stage. I even could see that she was breaking some of the hairs on her bow as she played. This performance is pretty tame compared to one like "Granuaile's Dance", or "Coast of Galicia", where she really goes all-out. She is as real as they come.
@evalewis114 жыл бұрын
In fact, I would LOVE to play as bare-noned as she does :)))) Only that much! :)))))) I love this group!

It makes you get up and dance to Ireland's best - just like Reels or Granuaile's Dance
@JaredSavoy15 жыл бұрын
I am pretty sure they are two separate songs. I think this piece is called the Contradiction because of the trade off between the two bodhran players. Its almost like they are two suitors trying to court Mairead, and she goes back and forth between the two.

@fiddle0351 Thank you ! Used to play simple system switched over in the early 60s due to Padddy Cartys music...still play a bit on a wooden Radcliff I have. In fairness I should say it is a good flute ...probably better than most of what you might hear on the trad circuit.

I think The Ashoken Farewell is in another video. My violin teacher used to play it, I always thought it was an absolutely beautiful song.
@Biverix14 жыл бұрын
they're called bodhrans. They are traditional Irish instruments, and the most epic ever.
@JaredSavoy15 жыл бұрын
The first part of her performance is called "The Ashoken Farewell" This part is called "The Contradiction" If you notice the title of this video, it says The Contradiction. Not Ashoken Farewell/The Contradiction. Perhaps the person posting the video just liked this part. You can find videos with the first part by searching for it by name! Hope that helps
