This song was featured at the end of the 2001 movie "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring". Eithne -- pronounced Enya -- composed and performed "May It Be". Her full name is Eithne Ní Bhraonáin, and she hails from Donegal, on the remote north western tip of Ireland.
This song was sung by Lisa Kelly on the debut album of Celtic Woman. They were initially featured on a PBS musical special, after which their popularity soared. The album was performed by vocalists: Chloë Agnew, Lisa Kelly, Méav Ní Mhaolchatha, Órla Fallon, and violinist Máiréad Nesbitt. Lyrics follow:

This is a 100% not live. Throughout the entire performance you can see a few moments where her lips aren't in sync with the music. That and the studio quality of the sound is a clear give away. Listen to the CD recording, it is exactly the same.

@@DONAL914 I agree, she has a lovely voice but she puts no soul into it. That's the thing with covers, if you have no attatchment to the song it's going to sound flat. For example, Jackie Evancho's cover of the song compared to Peter Hollens's version. They both have stellar voices, but Jackie doesn't put as much heart into it. Peter loves the Lord of the Rings so this song is special to him. She's not a particular fan, that's the only song from it she's ever covered. It's just a pretty song, it doesn't feel like she's getting into it. Unlike some of her other songs, like How Great Thou Art which is just dripping with emotion.

This is a cut from the Original Celtic Woman concert performed live in Ireland in 2004. It is one of the best concerts ever produced by any set of artists. During the concert, Lisa Kelly usually just stands there while the other artists are more animated. The reason for this is explained in the liner notes. She had just given birth to her latest child about 3 weeks before the concert. To say that this lady is a phenomenon is an understatement!

I've watched this video so many times and it still gives me goose bumps to this very day. I know that Enya originally did this for the film but oh my word Lisa just killed it and made it her own. I have followed Celtic Women for so many years and in all that time they never disappoint us with their amazing performances. Sitting alone in the top of the mountain, looking towards the early sunset, listening to this song. I don't know what will comes up in my mind. It would be completely blank and calm and peaceful.
