095 - Center of Mass
In this video Paul Andersen explains how the center of mass of an object represents the average position of matter in an object. The center of mass of a system is a combination of all the objects within the system. As long as no external torque is applied to the system the center of mass will be conserved.

Could you do a video on finding the center of mass of different homogeneous and nonhomogeneous lamina? My textbook seems to give separate formulas for the both the x-coordinate and y-coordinate, which are found by taking the inverse of the total mass and multiplying it by _some_ integral. I don't understand how that works.

thank you for that visual and your explanations sir! though I'm still trying to wrap my head around some of it. if I may, can I ask you a question. would I be right to assume that the center of mass on a human body is fixed and does not change no matter the position of the body, or does the center of mass change with the movement of body mechanics?

How is it that NO EXTERNAL FORCE acts on the rocket? Isn't the Parabolic path (projectile) a direct result of the gravitational force acting on it? And the velocity does not remain constant throughout. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Suppose; if there is no m1and m2 ..how to calculate its center of mass for ex: only m1 then how to finds its position "x" ..and its center of mass...?
@gsisirvarma6160
@gsisirvarma6160 7 жыл бұрын
The position of m1 is the distance from origin to m1. And the centre of mass of the particle is itself, i.e., mass of the particle itself.

How do you find the center of mass when the bar connecting the objects DOES have a mass?
@arpandutta3591
@arpandutta3591 7 жыл бұрын
That's simple...if the rod has a mass too..treat it like a small box in the centre with mass as much as that of the mass of the rod...and then these three are connected by a massless rod.. :) you can ask me if you want any more help or clarification.

Conservation of momentum fails to hold if Center-of-Mass frame is transformed by Lorentz Transformation to another inertial reference frame. vixra.org/abs/1802.0099 If velocities of both objects are transformed by Lorentz Transformation. Total momentum become totally different.

If we apply a constant force to the object, it will move with a constant acceleration and NOT with a constant velocity (Newton's second law!). The videos are great, but what the teacher is saying is wrong.
