The Rock makes a terrible CIA agent. The point of a clandestine agent is to blend in. To disappear into the background. He is a giant with a bald head and a bright yellow muscle shirt.... I doubt his instructors at the farm would have very many good things to say about his spy skills.

You never thought about this movie being a persiflage on action movies like "Mission Impossible". Persiflages live from exaggerations and actions that seem to make no sense! BTW: If you ever watched the whole movie you knew there still is a story behind the story!

In the firm traditions of James Bond, and Maxwell Smart. No actual real spy agency has someone going around, announcing their name, standing out, etc, most of it up is just paperwork, analysis, and an understanding of realpolitik (take a look at Page 8 or the other Worricker films for actual closer to real spy work).
