Also double check for allergies before starting. Almost every I know who has had a previous CVC especially a tunneled one is allergic to chlorhexadine. As much as we are exposed to it it becomes a huge problem

I assisted some residents in the Emergency Room at my hospital with the insertion of a CVC insertion. I DID NOT TOUCH THE CATHETER OR NEEDLE, JUST THE PATIENT! But it was a very cool experience.

Edwards life sciences do not recommend priming the line while under pressure. They suggest prime without pressure and when air removed, inflate pressure bag to 300mmHg

Saline flushes in the light plastic ARE NOT STERILE, at least here in the United States, just and FYI. I know this isn't a real insertion, so they may have just been used for this video.

Depends on what you use. THEY ARE STERILE in the UK. The inside of the packet is sterile and they've opened it up as such. It's likely a posiflush which is definitely sterile as per the manufacturer when opened correctly onto a sterile field as in this video. None issue here. Good work @Royal Berks NHS

Injecting local into the vein isn’t a big deal, not at the dose and amount in a cvc tray. Anesthesia gives lidocaine iv all the time before induction.

Guidewire embolism is not caused by guidewires getting "sucked" into patients. No need to hold the guidewire unless sliding a needle out, a dilator in/out or catheter in.

Prolonged period of antibiotic treatment, parenteral nutrition, tissue irritants such as norepinephrine and so on. In the ICU, central lines are Gods gift. These patients needs lots and lots of medication, fluids, blood component etc. Peripheral lines most often won't do.
