I am using this exact product for the hwt venting in our construction site for this TH project. I admit it is thinner so if you drop it accidentally it may crack. But it is much easier to carry, cut, and install. I know the arrows on the label indicate flow direction but curious, what happens if the arrows on the Intake pipes are pointing to the exterior of the house vs towards the hwt?

Super Easy: Re-read the installation instructions of the pipe. NEVER EVER waver from what they say.

Can I use this to replace B-vent for Cat 1 natural draft water heater/furncace?

When you asked this question to the manufacturer of the appliance, what was their answer???

@@askthebuilder, I cannot find this anywhere--where did you get it and $? Anyway, I measured my temperature out of my water heater flu and it read around 300 degrees--centrothern is rated 250. Would you say that is better than category 4, power venting, into 73 degree rated PVC, but I haven't measured that temperature--have you? What would you do?

How many years will the gasket last before starting to leak?
@askthebuilder5 жыл бұрын
Dan, when you went to the Centrotherm website and filled out their Contact Us page with your question, what did they tell you? Here's some advice: When you have a question about a product, NEVER EVER trust anything anyone on KZfaq or the Internet says, unless of course they will stand behind the warranty. There's only once source for the correct answer: the manufacturer of the product.

if installed properly, the gasket shouldn't leak. We offer a 10 year warranty as well.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that at least 80% of existing PVC flues fail their pressure test during a furnace swap.

I wouldnt recommend using PVC as a vent anyways. Best off to use CPVC. In fact some jurisdictions require it. !f some should happen that your return water exceeds 130*F you wont be condensing in the combustion chamber and the regular PVC will fail and potentially leak CO into your building.

You do what you want. People with critical-thinking skills will read the installation instructions of the boiler or tankless heater and use the BEST exhaust piping material that is referenced in that document. Guess which material was for my daughter's boiler???

You can't tell me this stuff is better than cpvc it's thin, it warps in the sun, I'll take thick cpvc over this anyday
@askthebuilder2 жыл бұрын
Oh, but I can say that it's better... I think you're not aware of the degradation of the PVC or CPVC from the flu heat. You better look into that. GL as we say in Morse.

@@hvac917 Are you aware of the flaw in your original debate point? You've obviously not tried the pipe. You've not researched its specs. You just *THINK* it won't work. You appear to suffer from a debilitating issue most old crusty contractors possess: You always think the way you've done it is the best and nothing can be better. What a shame you telegraph such a closed mindset. Can you show me photos you've taken of this pipe that's warped in the sun? Send them to me here: www.askthebuilder.com/ask-tim/

@@askthebuilder I never saw you show anything about it standing up to flu heat better than CPVC, (which shouldn't be a problem if you have set it up right).
