To be fair, the creator said that the VSKA and VSKA thunder ranch is meant for a literal last resort situation while giving us an updated, reliable and affordable AKM. It may not be Chrome lined and all that but it DOES pass the 15,000 round test.
@vilewisher87864 жыл бұрын
I own both, and the VSKA gives the WASR a run for its money. It's not the garbage RAS they were putting out before. It'll also shoot anything you put through it. As far as being a "proven Soviet infantry rifle", I don't know about all that yet, but what I can tell you is that after 4000 rounds or so it's doing fine. I'd like to add that the charge handle feels GOOD. Real good.

As a Romanian-American, I panic-bought a VSKA after this past joke "election". Classic Firearms had run out of AK's so when the VSKA came in, I grabbed one. I felt bad because I've always wanted a WASR. Seeing WASR's go from $750 to $1500 overnight, I Grabbed a Romanian PSL the minute they came in stock on CF's website. Love both. Having an American-made AK is actually a very good feeling!

I love shooting my WSAR 10. It's just a fun rifle to shoot. I haven't had any issues with it at all in the 4 years or so I've owned it, and thousands of rounds through it. It's MUCH better quality than the first WSAR I bought maybe 15 years ago. Quality control really stepped since then. Nice table top review of this rifles. Time to hit the range and see how that VSKA runs.
@charisperissos13205 жыл бұрын
I think part of that is because you bought the old 10/63 like I did, canted sights and all. Those were built off used surplus parts. I have an NPAP that was built stateside from surplus parts from the same time period. It's actually better than the new imports

@jacobhughes82225 жыл бұрын
@Teknopower2040 Yeah, but look that the Russians are making an AR and selling at the high end of the AR market. We are trying to put together an AK and trying to have it in the price of the low end of the AK market (Entry-level). If these US builders would build an AK at a price of high end, then it would function.

@Mr.Ut215 жыл бұрын
You havent been into ak's very long with an opinion like that...
@aidansimonov2525 жыл бұрын
I would be careful pointing fingers. While Chad’s phrasing might be a touch dramatic, his fundamental opinion is inarguable, and reflects an accurate understanding of AK history. The WASR is a proven infantry rifle which has been accepted for military service. The Cugir factory in Romania was trained in AKM production by the Soviets, and they have demonstrated for more than 50 years that they understand how to build critical AK components correctly. They will never be the gold (or even silver) standard of the AK family, but their is no question that they are solid AKs, and are almost always good for tens of thousands of rounds. Century has tried to domestically produce AKs for about a decade. Their rifles (C39 & RAS47) have an abysmal reputation for reliability, and even the best examples typically reveal abnormal wear and mechanical breakdown between 2,500 to 7,500 rounds. I am crossing my fingers that the VSKA is good, but it has a big hill to climb before it could earn it way into the same category as a proven Cold War infantry rifle like the WASR.

CA has fixed the issues of the Yeager fail tests. The VSKA is now very well built & much improved. Yes they shit the bed on the rollout & rsa47 was a flop. The barrel should be oiled & cleaned from time to time & hence not being chromed lined shouldn’t be an issue. The bolt wear is better than a wasr & psak 47. Nothing wrong with a wasr, but the fact is, it’s not any better (and perhaps slightly inferior) to the latest & greatest batches of VSKAS. It’s just a fact most need to accept. I’ve talked to AK owners who have been shooting numerous models for 30+ years that own VSKAS with well over 5k rounds through & they are impressed overall.

The reason VSKA use more metal is because those parts are casted not forged like WASR. No doubt much inferior quality.

The wood is very nice so thumbs up for that.I like the fact they used a HFC barrel too because the RAS 47 and C39 V2 barrels just didn't last if you really run them hard.The tool steel if that claim is true is a deff improvement.I guess I will wait for AKOU to do a review before I toss down any money on one.

While I think every AK owner should have an Under Folder, I bought the VSKA. I may get an Under-Folder later this Summer, so I'll be checking with you on Facebook to see what you have. ~Yes, I'm gambling that the new VSKA with the S7 Steel will take all the Range Trips that it will experience. I'm 70 and won't be going into Combat again, or I hope not. Anyway, I have my SAM7SF for that. ~My VSKA's single-stage trigger has zero take-up with a very crisp icicle type break. I would not call removing a wasr10 stock easy bud. Pretty sure I broke my finger in the process of replacing the furniture on an unfired wasr10. I watched several KZfaq videos of people having to beat them off with hammers, one guy but two bolts through the stock and had to use a tow rope, a few people used a vise and marked up their firearms. I finally managed to figure out the simple solution using a large bold and hammer to knock it out from the inside. Took about an hour of rethinking of different ways to remove the stock before I was able to get it but she looks fantastic with all magpul furniture

If it was easy anyone would do it. This is just the beginning people. Century is finally making them from the ground up. This is great! I believe Century will succeed during this PHASE due to the fact that most people dont check specs of an ak47 before they buy. Ak47s are many times compulsory/Impulse buys due to the nostalgia.(research begins when you get home...lol) In 2020 if you dont own an AK47 or an AR15, you do not own a quintessential semi automatic rifle. Price will always get people to bite. 649.99 right now IN STOCK at classic firearms. For the 2nd PHASE they need to get access to branded chrome lined cold hammer forged barrels & trunions by the crate! 3rd Phase they need some damn forging machinery. These factors will undoubtedly make century a trusted household name in the next decade Like Colt, Ruger,Remington, Smith & Wesson and more. None of which make an AK47...

@petesheppard17095 жыл бұрын
Is the VSKA barrel heavier? It looks thicker, which would account for the increased weight. I hope they finally got it right, but the WASR still gets my nod because it's stood the test of time. The issues with earlier guns was due to poor conversion work in the US, not the rifle itself.

I've been into AKs since the 80s , mostly chicom , I purchased a VSKA Tactical mostly for the variety factor as for looks There was good and bad , first the bad. The poly furniture made the rifle extremely uncomfortable to shoot , I was about to flip it and decided to try something , I had a Yugo furniture set laying around so I fitted it to the VSKA took some work because two different configurations , that alone transformed the rifle into a smooth pleasure to shoot Next was the finish , it literally had 3 shades of black finish , I had some Brownell Alumihyde so I refinished the whole rifle Next was the ridiculous A2 flash muzzle device , no AK should have a AR style muzzle device , I had an AK74 device , I put that on , perfection Mixed up some shellac, tinted to deep cherry and appearances the rifle is beautiful The good , I have about 2500 rds down the pipe , head space is still awsome , no peening , nothing bad going on with the bolt. No pin walks or wobble , I havnt even had a failure to feed with this rifle

Don't be so sure about the US using a US made AK by Century. They asked Alan Sheppard what his thoughts were when he was sitting in the rocket right before he blasted off to be the first American in space. He replied, "I kept thinking.....this thing was made by the lowest bidder"

Between these rifles and spiked ammo, we can watch the enemy grenade themselves shooting at us. Makes sense in that light.

Funny how 20 years ago the Wasr was considered garbage, I have a VSKA with over 4000 rnds and not a single malfunction and it passes the no go gauge test with flying colors

I know My wasr 10/63 has a forged front trunnion and that's the main thingYou know that Wasr trunnion is not going to let loose. I would ask the Century first about that front trunnion before purchasing the AK. Both are really good looking fire arms.

2 WASR 10/63s and a SAR 1, I'll stick to my Romanian akm rifles. Have seen far too many failures with the Century built rifles.

Can a side plate optical mount be put on the VSKA by a gunsmith?
@rainmechanic5 жыл бұрын
Riiiiight… So development of the VSKA was supposedly done to provide US military and Police with an alternative to the AR Platform but the entire team over at Century's R&D forgot to provide a riveted OPTICS MOUNT??? That entire story was some major Used Car Cringe, and on principle alone would be the reason I chose a WASR over this..

When we want to use AK's to supply Foreign Securiry Forces we buy surplus Kalshnikovs from former Combloc countries now in NATO. In now way shape or form would we waste money on American made AKs and then spend even more money on logistics to get them to a country that already has easy access to surplus AK weapons.

Is the century RH-10 wasr what you guys are talking about? I'm looking for my first ak, price is at 899 but you gotta do what you gotta do
@Jazzman-bj9fq3 жыл бұрын
@@tomothybahamothy Yeah that's the one. The price on it hasn't gone up since I bought mine over a year ago. Now, with this last year of craziness, virtually all firearms prices are going up. If you in the position to do so, I would recommend going forward with getting it, pricing are only going to get worse. It's a good quality and you can easily get upgrade parts when they're available. I got my upgrades based upon what Rob Ski did for his. He has a video on it that he did a while back.

Hello my Indiana brother. Just picked up my first American made AK. Absolutely awesome!!! Not a single problem after 210 shots and I’m using cheap wolf ammo. Every time it goes bang and just as fast as u can squeeze it. Better than any AR I’ve shot. Would trust my life with a AK before a AR any day!!
