Getting ready for the busy season! Alot of unboxing in this vlog... Also, questions of the week: "Do gun transfers piss off your dealer?"

Question of the Week starts at 13:38!!! Guys, this is the first Vlog that we have done that has gotten alot of attention, most vlogs were just viewed by locals who wanted to see the inventory we were getting in. The "Question of the Week" was meant to be an afterthought in the vlogs. For future vlogs I will be more clear and dedicate more time to the "Question of the Week" as well as leave timestamps in the video so you can skip over the inventory stuff. Please bear with me... This video was not meant to be some elaborate ploy to trick you into watching me unbox things - its just what my local customers wanted me to film. I will work on changing the format moving forward. Thanks!

The laminated wood used on the old WASR 10/63s is far more durable than the cheap wood Century puts on the new WASR-10s. The new wood may be more aesthetically pleasing out of the box, but it cracks far more easily than the old laminated wood, which also looked better after refinishing. Not a huge deal though since many owners replace the wood with nice surplus wood or a more modern stock set.

Transfers only make you on average $25.00, but it gets the person into your store and that's half the battle. They see what you have to offer and maybe they pick up some ammo or see another firearm they've been looking for and buy yours. It looks like a win win for the store.

I had a argument a while back with a local store who were giving me attitude on me wanting to transfer over a wasr 10 to pick up. They were wanting to charge me 80 bucks for it and said when it gets here it gets here dont bother to call us. I told them well if you wouldnt carry shit ras and c39s this would not be an issue, second ive spent thousands at your store in the past with your old owner who passed away and was a dear friend his son now owns the shop and he remembered how much i respected and took care of his dad there so he told the dumbass employee to not treat customers like that this man has been loyal for years charge him 25. Done deal came in few days later and bought good amount of ammo from the son now owner and thanked him for being a stand out guy. I ended up spending more than the 80 bucks but because i was treated with respect they got more out of me than just the 25 fee. Kindess goes along away. Being a prick in sales you obviously are in the wrong line of work. Sure customers can be and mostly are the douches but alot of us have spent thousands and kept these stores open and to treat us like trash because we found a good deal that didnt poke our eyes out is wrong.

No problem. He was helpful, gracious and appreciative of the price I was able to get.

My ffl loves it, he looks at it as free money, plus the more I and whoever I drag in with me to ship or receive a firearm come through his shop, the more likely I am to see something that I can't live without, so he has made several gun sales that way, plus the better relationship that we build up, the more likely that I am to go to him when I need something locally. I have moved recently some 35 miles away from my fly, but I still use his services due to the relationship between us that we have built up over the years. So on several levels, they need to look at transfers as a positive thinking.

They tend to order anything for anyone at nearly the minimum and they're fine with it. The alternative is go to that big store with just about everything ...except maybe what you want. Their prices are at least $100 over MSRP because that's their way of saying 'because screw you' and then apply the taxes. Transfer fees are high as some of the staff are snobby. >.< (e.g, bought a Desert Eagle in April this year. $1550 for the cheapest one at big box. Any time a customer steps into your store, it is a chance to make a good impression on the customer and any hint of annoyance on the part of the personnel attending to them will be remember by them. The customer will more than likely never darken that dealer's door again. You only get one chance to make that 1st impression. Guns are a long term thing for most and they will be needing ammo and accessories, reloading supplies and other stuff, besides which you local gun store employees are standing around with their thumbs up their backside for many hours per day and having something to do and someone to discuss firearms with is a blessing. When a store employee has a transfer to complete that is one hour the company gets his salary covered by the customer and not the store. If you or your employees get pissy with customers, they pick up on it and remember. If the store employee gets pissy they need to go find another profession like today.

I seriously doubt that anyone would make wooden gun furniture out of something as soft as Balsa wood. Did you, by chance, mean Plywood?

My local ffl/dealer surprised me he said he makes just as much if not more on annual transfers than markups. Also not everyone is looking for the guns that are in stock I rarely buy guns just because it's a deal.

My local firearms dealer doesn't always have what I am looking for and if they do its sold before I have saved up for the guns. So I buy mags, parts ect..(have bought firearms from them)but lately transfers. They charge $35 and I give them $50 and say keep the change.

My dealer charges $50, and I am OK with it. I would buy some of the transfer stuff from them, but the online guy has a great layaway program that my local guy can’t meet and it allows me to buy more good stuff.

Thanks for the insight. This is the first vid I saw of yours and it's something that I always wondered. I guess that I'm that guy who has called and seemed a bit sheepish about asking. Do you charge for the transfer of a gun purchased from your store? I've seen the lot. Some build a high fee in the price which raises that price, but it's right there for the consumer to see. Some charge "nothing". I say nothing in quotes because of course it costs something. But it's usually their true cost over their entire sales line. I can see the charge for the state stuff that the store gets charged as a per-event. But the absolute worst is when you get charged full-boat retail transfer fee on the gun on an over-the-counter sale. That is as bullshit as car dealer "dock fee and advertising". What do you do in your store?

I collect old Military Surplus, so most gun stores these days don't have what I need unless I transfer it in.

I have never had a problem on transfers. in Northern nj 50 dollars is the average transfer price. I joined a range because I shoot there quite a bit also they do transfers for free for members if the member is the buyer. If I am a seller it is 65.00 If it is a new gun they always say see if they can meet the price.

Cool vlog I like the way you think... On the up side you potentially gain a new customer And let’s face it there are smaller mfrs. out there that are not readily reped In big box stores or many smaller gun shops I prefer to keep my interactions on a more personal basis where we have a handshake and chat a bit When I run into you in the local community Un fortunately there are some folks who think god made them an authority and their shit don’t stink Good job I did sub as well👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Local pawn just raised their charges from $30-$40. I'm done with them, I always buy something at the shop I do transfers, I even considered buying my next gun from them but after the upcharge, I had one more purchase and that's it. I'll go somewhere else. I used to live in another city where I got transfers from a police supply who didn't stock firearms, $25 transfers and no drama.

Save CASH and TAX!!! I know I save at least $100-200 depending on model before TAX. After tax another $100 to the bill I would save if the firearm is $500 here in FL. I save big. But like last month I tried to find a new p320 that I dont have to send back to sig it cost me almost $620 with Tax in Academy Sports but I got a born date of April 2018 which others online was trying to sell me a 2017 model. So I paid the extra cash.

Working at a gun shop in CA, yes. I HATED private party, even mailed in, transfers. Twice the paperwork, twice the amount of time, and we only charge $25(some shops now do $10 per gun as each additional gun is that much more time). So the shop gets hardly any reimbursement. More than the work, it was the customers 60% of the time that were annoying. They either didnt have the documentation needed, would have to take the stupid CA HCS test, were ADD to the max, just annoying. Two transfers really stuck with me. One I had both individuals as a buyer and seller. The second was one guy selling to two different people 2 guns, and himself buying a gun form either one of them, or both. Needless to say, I HATE private party transfers. But hey, how else are you gonna prevent criminals from illegally buying guns....oh, wait, they dont follow the law anyway... Out of state transfers were not as bad, but what I hated about it was that we do not open the package until the customer arrives(that way they can't say we scratched it, or removed an item). Why did I hate that? Time wasted on opening the package(especially if it was stuffed with fucking packing peanuts). I guess out of state transfers were not too bad in retrospect, but I really would prefer we at least opened the shipping package and clean the trash and leave the gun package sealed up rather than dong the whole thing when the "customer" comes to do the paperwork. Ya, we can clean it up while they drool over it, but if it is a busy day, we would be stepping over trash, until we had a lull to clean it up. Rather get it out of the way when we have downtime, and the customer is not there yet(which they would take 2-5 days to come in). But, money wise. Customers, you are not always right. Don't care what you say about it. We are in business to make money, not to have you buy the gun elsewhere and make us do the damn paperwork for you. Shops are lucky to make 15% on a new gun in profit, so on an out of state transfer, you bet your last dollar that we will take it for you using our books, and time, and storage. Private transfers, well, the paperwork costs us money thanks to the state. We are not making money on the $25 paperwork fee, or on your gun that is not even taxed, so guess what, if the shop wants to charge an additional $10, pay up, or go to a pawn shop, we really don't care to have your business if it is not money being spent on the actual products and services we provide. It is a waste of time, and you can blame politicians and ignorant voters on that. It's too bad that in CA we are required to do a PPT so long as it is a legal transfer. This is not me saying I don't like people who do PPT's or out of state transfers, it's just me telling you to go pound sand if you are not happy about the pricing, to an extent. Some jackass charged $50 for a PPT, on TOP of the state fee. We charged $25, and i think $10 for each additional gun, and $75 for out of state transfers. Our gun prices were set at MSRP since we were low volume. We could not compete with the other shops in merchandise for reasons i can't discuss, but your local best buy gun dealer selling a glock for $500, they are maybe making $40. We sold them for $600. We made up for those prices though with our service, and our full gunsmithing shop. If we did not have an item, we would order it.
