Great video! Appreciate the one year update. I’m about to do my Jeep with the Cerakote. In Hawaii, the sun is just as brutal as FL. Cheers!

Thanks for updating. The main thing about such products is durability. That's for the price we pay.

A friend of mine spray-painted it with matt black he did his trims bumpers everything and it came out great and it was 2 years ago. Just food for thought.

Appreciate the follow up video. What happens is you recoat the faded plastic & with the Cerakote ceramic? Since it is a ceramic coating, does it lock the plastic from taking in additional coating? Or has the coating worn off in those areas & that's why the plastic has now faded? Just thinking out loud here. I have been pondering this product for my Saturn Vue that I got from a friend, The plastics are extremely faded grey. I debated about using Solutions finish to dye/restore them black & then coating with the Cerakote Ceramic to lock in the color. However, its been pointed out that ceramic is "permanent" so the fading would occur over time from UV under the ceramic coat & then you could not restore again due to the ceramic locking the coated piece.

To me this Cerakote creates a bit of a chemical reaction with the state of the plastic. Over time this coat does fade and you will need to re-apply, maybe every 4 years. I would not to dye/restore and then cerakote on top. Just do one or the other in my opinion.

hello my friend. In those parts where the product did not work, it is probably because it is covered in contamination. You should clean it with an acidic product, leaving it to act for approximately 2 minutes, you will see that the white color will disappear. After that, apply the trim coat

I appreciate that tip and will try that. those particular plastics are frustrating!

I painted the plastic on my jeep liberty and it lasted about 2 years. I got a truck with and I don't want to take all the plastics off to paint so I am considering cerakote cuz its on sale. Considering the paint only lasted 2 years for all that effort I am looking for a lazier option. Maybe pop those steps out and paint it. You will need to clean it with acetone then hit it lightly with a torch to gas out. It will look good at this point, but it wont stay good. I don't know of a paint that can take the Florida sun more than 2 years that is black. They all seem to react the same way over time.

You gotta put a good solid layer of enamel clear coat over it after painting. Don't wait for the paint to completely dry, you want to apply it within the first hour after painting for best adhesion. I've painted things (like my grill and front emblem) without fading here in the Vegas desert where its 90-100 degrees and full sun for 5 months straight and sunny for 95% of the year. Then applying a ceramic coat on top every month or so, helps as well.

would you use on brand new car trim (doesn’t need restoration) ? or regular ceramic coatings ? thanks for video

I am sure there is some grey area to this and im sure it would be fine to add this to new trim. this product is largely marketed as a restore. I would reach out to Cerakote to see what they say. This product makes a noticeable difference, a wet look. I would imagine you would not get this look with a typical ceramic for paint. There are likely other products that bridge this gap and are advertised for what you are trying to do. Cheers!

Did you do the mirrors?
@SebastianBalos11 ай бұрын
I did but the mirrors on the Xterra are a different plastic so its not like the wipes did anything to make a huge difference. Cheers!

Must be nice to be rich and have a big house with a 2 car garage and be able to stroll around drinking beer all day.

Wonder if you. Know the guy, hopefully you're his buddy. But if not, why that comment? The video is not about the house and beer. It's about trim restoration and longevity of it. My first time seeing this guy's content my thoughts were not on his house or garage. I did say that's a nice Corvette. Thanks for the video and the update. Stay positive dude🤙🏻

Chances are this guy worked his a$$ off to have a home and a beer. And he was kind enough to make a video that informs the viewers about a product.
