Day 6 after my disc replacement. Sean, I totally connect with you on getting to that low point in life due to the pain and not functioning as well as you once were. Pain changes a person. Fast forward, with the love and support from my husband and kids, I'm so thankful, that I was able to have the disc replacement. My doctor was empathetic, informative, and real about what was going on with my spine (C1-C7 )and gave me options from the least invasive physical therapy, steroid injection (which won't fix the disc if it's badly damaged) to having the surgery. I was very anxious about having my disc replaced. too. But the thought of living with the shitty dull continued arm and neck pain and becoming a burden on my family, helped me decide to go ahead with the surgery. You documented the realness of the pain and recovery very well. Thank you, for sharing your experience, I hope it gives others the courage to move forward with the disc replacement. Lastly, I appreciate your time and effort because you filmed during your recovery, which was no easy feat! Apologies for the long ramble

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful reply and for sharing your own experience. I’m glad to hear you’re recovering well. And I’m glad you found my videos. When your quality of life is severely threatened by a medical condition like this, it puts a lot of things into perspective. I’m grateful we could both receive this treatment and ultimately a second chance at a functional and happy life. Sending my best wishes to you and your family. - Sean

It does suck when you can't do the things that make life worth living. It can lead to depression and even suicidal thoughts. I appreciate your honesty. No doubt your videos will help others to have less anxiety should they be on a similar journey. Cheers.

I am six days post from having two cervical disc replaced. C-5 C6, C6 C7. Just curious, did you have any numbness in your throat? How long did it take for you to re-cover and swallow normal? Was it Nnumb where your tracheal is? Really appreciate your videos.

Sean, glad to hear your Prestige LP has improved your quality of life and eliminated most of your pain. My hat is off to you for taking a chance on surgery in hopes for a good outcome!! I feel confident in the Prestige LP disc replacement, its the surgeon that you hope hits a home run on implanting it. Sorry for the long ramble! I am a candidate for a two level Prestige LP. I was diagnosed with CDDD January 2020 just before COVID. My surgeon informed me of all the risks on doing this type of surgery and as you know there are many! I asked him how many Prestige LP procedures he has implanted, he said "lots" no number? That sounds like an arrogant answer to me? I did NOT get a good vibe from him, read some of his patient reviews and they were mixed. Shortly after, I went to get a second opinion and the 2nd opinion surgeon only did fusion. I wasn't interested in fusion as it limits neck mobility. COVID at that time was at full tilt and it didn't make sense to be taking up hospital space while others were dying. At least, that was my excuse to put it off. I have been dealing with this neck pain for over 8 years. Did the required physical therapy, trigger point injections, all to zero improvement. I am coming up on almost 3 years later from the diagnose and surgery seems like my only option. My biggest issue is finding a surgeon with a good track record in implanting the Prestige LP. Like you, I totally understand you being scared on the risks of this surgery and I feel exactly the same way. I have watched the surgery animation and yes, the spinal cord is right in the back of everything. How did you find your surgeon? Did he or she have posted reviews you check out? I understand mistakes can happen and one does have to make peace with that like you said.

Hey, thanks for your comment and sorry to hear about the pain you've been enduring. When it comes to finding the right surgeon, my advice would be to speak to different experts in the field. Collect enough data and then follow your intuition and gut feel. You will know when it feels right. But I understand how challenging it is. Wishing you all the best. Hope you receive the treatment to restore your quality of life.

hi sean, just came across your videos. hearing about your journey. I also just 2 weeks removed from disc replacement of my C4,C5,C6. My pre op symptom & feelings are similiar to you. Can you share : 1) Do you experience any discomfort, spasm, stiffness on surrounding muscle group? Shoulder, scalene & upper neck region? 2) Mind sharing kind of rehab program / treatment you do with your physio? Anyways, good to see the surgery was successful & have positive change for your life.
