If your vision is corrected to 20/20 then YES, most commercial pilots use corrective lenses at some point. In conclusion, if your vision is corrected to 20/20 you have no problem obtaining a First class medical in the US. Good luck.

So many people don't understand what you said about learning in a glider. It teaches you that where the nose is - up or down - controls airspeed. We have a saying here, if you want to make the houses look smaller, pull back on the control yoke. If you want to make them look bigger again, pull back on the control yoke some more. :)

A friend of mine started to fly Continental Airlines when he turned 21 years old. He said it last about 3 years and had to find a job that would pay the rent. It seems that older pilots could dump a lower pilot with less hours. They have some thing that if a pilot wants to take a flight he could sign up for it. A more senior pilot could without 3 or so hours come in and get the flight away from him. He was only making like $20K per year before he gave it up.

To get a private pilot's license you are looking about $ 10,000 USD. If you want to get a commercial license, that is a license that will let you carry paying customers you would spend about $ 25,000. This is the price in the US. A lot of things differ in price, that is the type of airplane you are certified in. The larger the more it cost. You will have to have a medical certificate and go each year for continued certification. The people that fly the big commercial airplanes usually come out of the military school flight programs. Their experience and schooling are paid for by the government. Good luck in your choice.

Flying around the Europe airspace is different, I've heard! Almost all flights are on a flight plan, even VFR, is that correct? Flights across from Cyprus may need to be on a flight plan at all times due to crossing the Med. Good video! I'm on the same track here is Washington State, testing for Instrument & CPL; just passed my Instrument Ground Instructor exam yesterday!

I agree with you Paul, different countries have different regulations for flight plans in Europe. E.g. An ATC flight plan is mandatory for all flights in Greece while in Sweden it is only mandatory for controlled flights. However, a VFR flight always submits a VFR ATC flight plan. Thus a VFR flight can never be cleared to the destination, only within the current TMA/CTR... The CTR controller in Cyprus cannot know what the situation is in Rodos Diagoras CTR. If you proceed to destination without first calling Rodos Approach and getting clearance that is an airspace intrusion. PS: Congrats on your Ground Instructor exam!

Maybe he is cypriot, they speak english well. Cyprus have a greek/english culture, because it was the colony of England much time.

He is definitely Cypriot. He said that (in Greek) arriving at Megara airport which is his final destination. Cypriot speaks Greek but they have a clearly recognizable local accent.
