Please note that on 19 April 2024 the Government announced, as part of a range of changes to the Welfare System, that all migration notices will now be sent by the end of December 2025. This means that ESA-only and ESA/Housing Benefit claimants may be contacted earlier than expected. We will keep an eye on this in case the timetable changes again.

Managed Migration is a process where the DWP tell you to claim Universal Credit (UC), as your current benefits will end. This only applies to England, Scotland and Wales.
If you're being moved to Universal Credit you will receive a letter called a 'migration notice'. You don't need to claim UC before you receive this notice, unless you've had specialist advice that you have to, or will be better off if you do.
Once you get the migration notice, you must act within the deadline or your current benefits will end.
