From 1982 and for around ten years, the castle was the subject of a series of clearing, clearing and restoration operations thanks in particular to summer projects organized by the Études et Chantiers Bretagne association. . These projects of young volunteers (around fifteen at a time, aged 17 to 25) from France and other European Union countries were supervised by architects and run on a daily basis by craftsmen such as stonemasons. who shared the lives of the young volunteers on site. Given the interest and complexity of the site, and with the aim of presenting the monument to the public, the general council of Côtes-d'Armor , in agreement with the Regional Archeology Service , commissioned a study of the castle in 1994 This aimed to take stock of previous operations and carry out an evaluation of the written documentation and the archaeological potential of the site [ 3 ] .
At the end of this study, the rich potential of the castle was highlighted and a study program was proposed. Since then, the study has continued according to three-year study programs. After four programs, supplemented by an annual program in 2007, three quarters of the castle's surface area were excavated. This site receives around twenty students, French and foreign, each year, supervised by Inrap staff and serves as a school site. This excavation work is being carried out on the site of the castle and its surroundings, financed by the State and the general council until 2013. Six main phases of development can be discerned. In 2005, the remains of wall paintings with a false device decoration in reverse polychromy with split white joints on a red ocher background with a decoration were discovered in the remaining parts of a lower bedroom, near the large north room. merlettes in the center on the north and south walls, and a stylized fleurette on the east wall [ 4 ] , [ 5 ] .
