Beautiful. Chad really has it. Sound, intonation, phrasing...capturing the mood brilliantly. Playing a beautiful melody straight ahead and speaking to the listener in a moving way is what makes a player stand out from the rest. He does make a it a point to show us he has chops to spare. LOL...Chad you are the real deal. Brilliant!!! One of the few young saxophonist out there that has a deep grasp, understanding and respect for the craft. I can listen to this all day.

What a beautiful rendition ! Just incredible control of the saxophone with incredible feeling. A rare combination. If only non musicians knew how difficult it is to play the tenor saxophone with the control of a world class symphonic musician along with the feeling of a world class soulful jazz musician. I'm in awe of your ability to play so great on uptempo stuff and then to be able to play a ballad with such incredible control and beauty. Congatulations on your continued success. It's so well deserved. And your rhythm section accompanies you perfectly. They are all amazing !

@jonahwalt
@jonahwalt 4 жыл бұрын
Cabbage Man I'm nowhere near as good as Chad, but my advice would just find that sound you want then practice long tones with that same tone every day. Practicing your sound like that is very good for if you switch equipment, because you'll still sound like the way you want to sound since you practiced that! Idk if half of that made sense (I'm not the best at explaining things), but I hope it can help you out a lil bit!
@Coderedpirate
@Coderedpirate 4 жыл бұрын
Cabbage Man Listening and long tones! The number 1 tip any jazz player will give you about improving is listening to people you want to sound like, whether it be tone or improv wise. If you want to sound like Chad, actively listen to him 24/7, not just when your doing chores or homework. When you do long tones, experiment with your throat and embouchure to get closer to the specific sound you want

This is in no way a negative comment...... I'm always blown away by the technicality of his playing and although all the fast licks are very impressive, I'm even more impressed when I hear this side of his playing. Very beautiful, melodic lines I could listen to all day. (Michael Brecker worthy)
