Today, I am honored to speak with Chadd Wright, a retired Navy SEAL turned elite ultra-runner who served his country on multiple deployments for over a decade. Chadd is a man full of wisdom and experience with an unrivaled passion for helping people become the absolute best version of themselves.
In this episode, we reveal the antidote to loneliness and hopelessness, break down what a real community looks like, and unpack how courage is the one thing you need to reach your goals. Finally, Chadd shares how the "One Mile Out" mindset helped him finish Cocodona 250 - a 250-mile ultra marathon through the rugged Arizona desert. Enjoy!

Knowing Chadd’s relationship with the Lord makes me respect him even more. Everything he stands for is what I believe in. He is a class act! You both are legends and amazing people! People are turning away from the Lord and church and we’re seeing it in the degradation of society as a whole and peoples morals.

With so few opportunities to hear men together being vulnerable with each other, and having listened to Chadd's truck talks, I did NOT expect this kind of inspiration. This is the deeper side of Chadd ... and now I know that the advice about facing tough challenges in these times we're living in also runs deeply into every aspect of life. Men knowing shame and overcoming it, ...it is so important. Trudgery has gotten me through so much, too. Today, you guys gave me courage, much needed courage. Well done, gentlemen.

I think that's exactly what's hurting us as a society. Many aren't aiming up. Many aren't in a community. And we're all worse off for it. Many of us need redemption and only through aiming up daily can we find it. This was a brilliant conversation guys! Thanks for sharing!

Great talk! I love Chadd and Nick. But the lone wolf part I kinda disagree. Family, friends, community etc is important and all. But at the end of the day there's only so much they can do for you. All that support all that cheering for you it has it limits. You fight most battles alone. They can never lift, run, work or reach your goal for you. As Chadd would say nuff said.

I had to abandon the lone wolf thing at some point, at least on a philosophical level. I've always been a bit of a lone ranger (not very social) but for me it became detrimental. So, I'm working on acquiring and maintaining a network of quality people that I regularly interact with and yes, seek support and/or guidance from.

Chadd's take on the resilience to keep going through piles of crap that you've create through your own mistakes touched me big time. I've made considerable progress in many areas of my life this year, mainly with fitness. I was weighing 313 lbs (142kg) 4/5 years ago, through excessive drinking and overeating at University. I'm now sitting at 235 lbs (106.7 kg) in the best shape of my life, running 70km a week. However, there are still other areas of my life I need to attack in the exact same way, I needed to hear this.

Good morning, thank you man for providing this discussion to all of us! I recently discovered Chadd and have started to watch and listen to all of the videos available. Nick, I will start watching your content also. I worked in the corporate world, my entire career, and Chadd made a comment about the smartest man in the room. I absolutely loved the comment, saying if you’re the smartest man in the room and you should be teaching and training that’s perfect, but rarely seen. I developed a list of 10 things. I learned in my career that I think apply to many things if you’re interested. I also coined a phrase a few years ago, called the cranial eclipse It happens when your ego passes in front of your brain and blocks out all the light. Take care and keep up the good work men!

I agree with competitiveness but see it differently. I look up to pro athletes and know they are ahead of me but it inspires me. On a race I’ll run faster because I’m trying to beat someone. But after the race, all I care about and remember was, did I beat my previous self? I always bring it back to me against me. Use others to motivate you but only use you to compare you

I have warched quite a few podcasts with former Tier 1, elite soldiers. A common theme appears in their journey for the meaning of life, pain, suffering triumphs and loss is their relationship to God the almighty. So many out there are fighting a needless struggle. These warriors figured out the answer, it was always there for the taking. For God so loved the world that he gave up his only begotten Son, and as he lay dying on the cross he speaks to the lord in his last breath "Forgive them Lord for they know not what they do" This is the epitome of why we exist, simply to lift each other up in our daily struggles loving one another as God loves us to a level we simply cannot comprehend. Give your struggles to him and he will lead you to everlasting peace. Mr. Chad is a class act. May St. MICHAEL protect you against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. Amen

I don't see how you can have time for meaningful relationships while at the same time working out, going to work, self care, and improving in whatever endeavors. The moment you become part of a group or have meaningful friendships, now you're welcoming their drama into your life or they need your time. I don't see how I can continue working out and doing Jiu-Jitsu and going to work and having time for God while still having time for community
