2023년 6월 1일부2023년 6월 1일부터 8월 30일까지, 안성민 작가 초청 《책, 꽃, 그리고 물》전이 한국민화뮤지엄 2층 갤러리코어에서 진행됩니다.
이번 전시의 주제이기도 한 책과 모란, 그리고 물줄기는 안성민 작가의 작품 세계에서 차원의 경계를 뛰어넘게 해 주는 연결고리 역할을 수행합니다. 〈그 안이 밖보다 크다〉 에서는 전통 책가도 특유의 역원근법이 평범한 책장을 하나의 관문으로 만들고, 그 틈새로 폭포가 되어 흘러나오는 산수풍경이 3차원과 2차원의 세계를 하나로 이어 냅니다. 〈공존〉에 달린 서랍장의 문을 살포시 열면 그 안에 숨겨져 있던 또 다른 세계가 모습을 드러내지요. 〈유유자적〉 속 호랑이가 뛰놀던 풍성한 모란꽃 모자는 어느 새 귀여운 강아지의 〈모란모자〉가 되어 있기도 합니다.
전시공간 한 편에는 《책, 꽃, 그리고 물》전의 작품 이미지를 이용한 포토존이 마련되어 있습니다. 부채처럼 활짝 펼쳐진 강아지의 모란 모자와 함께, 혹은 산수풍경이 담인 거대한 국수그릇과 함께 사진을 찍음으로서, 작품 속 환상세계의 일부가 될 수 있는 색다른 경험을 포토존에서 만나보실 수 있습니다.
동양과 서양, 평면과 입체, 전통과 현대, 서로 평행선을 달릴 것만 같던 두 세계를 하나로 이어 내는 민화의 힘. 뉴욕 허드슨 리버 뮤지엄에서 사람들의 시선을 사로잡았던, 장르와 재료의 한계를 벗어나 새로운 초현실의 세계를 개척하는 안성민 작가의 색다른 현대민화 전시를 지금 《책, 꽃, 그리고 물》전에서 감상하세요.
From June 1st to August 30th, 2023, Seongmin Ahn's 《Books, Flowers, and Water》 exhibition will be held at GalleryCore, situated on 2nd floor of Korean Minhwa Museum.
The traditional themes of Korean Minhwa, such as books, peonies, and water streams, plays a critical role in Seongmin Ahn's universe as connecting links that transcends the boundaries between worlds. In 〈Its Inside is Bigger than Outside" the unique reverse-perspective of traditional Chakgado paintings turns an ordinary bookshelf into a gateway, through which a waterfall flows into the vast ocean below to bind the 3D and 2D space together. Gently pull open the small cabinet door on 〈Coexistence,〉 and there lies the hidden world of flowers and sceneries. The lush peony clouds that the tigers play in 〈Idling_tiger〉series transform into fancy 〈Peony Hat〉 of a little puppy.
At the side of the exhibition room, there is a Photo Zone featuring props made of images from exhibited artworks. By taking a photo with the puppy's peony hat, or with a large bowl of noodles with entire landscape in it, the viewers can become another part of Seongmin Ahn's Minhwa world.
East and West, 2D and 3D, tradition and contemporary; experience the power of Minhwa that integrates two seemingly separate dimensions into one transdimensional artscape.
