@Novum_YT5 жыл бұрын
Hi Chael, it's not really a question just a statement but it's something I wanted you to know - and I hope this does reach you because I think it's important to let people know when they do or say things that have profound effect in your life. You sir did just that and I really, really want to say thank you: the post-fight presser of your retirement fight you were asked what I thought to be a pretty personal question at an emotional time. I'm paraphrasing but it was something along the lines of 'Given that you never quite saw world-championship success, what would you say to your late father now upon your retirement if you could?' And your reply stuck with me so much, you said, through a gulp - 'I'd tell him I tried my best'. Damn dude. I lost my father when I was a teenager and questions like you were asked routinely way heavily on me. But something just snapped in my head when I heard you say that, I guess it's what more emotionally developed people might refer to as a breakthrough. Whatever it was it meant the world to me. I write for a living and those words, the disappointment I often feel in myself weighed against a shadow, a memory, I could never seem to access them. I've never been sure what to feel or how to combat any of that doubt. Until you said that, in that I saw a man that was heroic as all hell that had to settle just short, I saw uncertainty and honesty and love and most of all it reminded me of how I felt but hadn't been able to verbalize. And now whenever I have those creeping doubts like 'Am I doing well in this life'/'Would he be proud of the man I am?' I stop myself and I think of you on that stage and then I say to myself 'So long as I'm trying my best he wouldn't be disappointed'.
