Speaking from professional and personal experience; the work for a parent of a child with a severe disability is deep and has many layers. The vision of what a loving parent expects for their child can be sharply different from what happens. The work of accepting that can last a lifetime.

Lady , I'm 28. I lost my mom when I was 11 and I always questioned life thinking how will I deal with all this. Years are going by and I'm still not sure how to deal. But life always had situations and solutions prepared for me and I just kept going. You're daughter will also find her way. Infact you never know she might be way smarter than others and use get skills to do something amazing!. You just have to keep going for now and trust the plan!. We're all scared here, but we all know we we're each other's biggest strength :)

when my mom was on her deathbed due to illness, I was angry , frustrated, lost and detached. Later my mom explained that length of life is not a measurement of anything and every soul I will encounter wil accompany me as Long as there are previous Karma. Then we read 15th adhyay of GITA and my whole family had rest of the 7 days of my mom's life peacefull .

Reality that suffering comes unannounced in life. You can never prepare how to deal with such emotional trauma. For a parent to watch every moment a kid suffer is the most difficult to deal with. Difficult to counsel but KD's compassion brings out words that would help the mother cope better.

I can understand your anxiety as a mother the only thing I can tell you let go of fear and trust whoever or whatever you trust... .. That helped me with my child

There is a school for autism children at the corner of my street and whenever I see those innocent wonderful faces, I use to derive some philosophical explanation to myself. In Bhagvad Gita, the lord Krishna says that the God/Goddess will take an incarnation in the world to resurrect the world with positive energies of unconditional love by eliminating the negative energies, whenever the world gets filled with negative forces. I use to think, that the god might take the birth in the form of those differently abled children to study the type of energy filled in this world, himself by testing how the society is treating him/her. In my eyes, those children are the direct incarnation of God who created this universe and any service done to them with unconditional love would be like the service done to the god directly. So it is not only the responsibility of the family members but also an opportunity for the entire society to serve those kids with unconditional love to prove to the incarnations of the god (those kids) that still some positive energy of unconditional love is sustaining in the world. I would think, anybody need not have to feel scary or guilty or helpless about those incarnations of the god regarding how they would survive in this universe, because it is god's own decision to born like this and this universe itself is the creation of the god. The creation (universe) would very well know how to serve the incarnations of its creator (those kids). Krishna Das rightly pointed about the Sudhama story. The take away from that part of the story is, if anybody would offer the best they could to god with unconditional love, even they are very poor or even the offering may be the poorest thing (in others view), god would consume them with unconditional love and do wonders in their life even if anybody would be ashamed or afraid of asking anything to god. Similarly, anybody should always consider their selfless service to those kids as an opportunity to submit their little poor offering to the god directly with unconditional love and reduce some balance from their sinful negative karmic account.
