Chain hoist, also known as chain block is a portable device used to manually raise or lower a load manually. Chain hoists are designed for lifting and material handling tasks.
They can raise and lower loads via the user pulling up or down on the hand chain without the need of any additional electrical or hydraulic power.
With the help of manual chain hoist, a persona can lift weight of 4 tonnes with ease.

Not only did I use it to lift heavy loads , but I also used it to tow the hatch cover on the bulk ship I am working on when the hydraulic system broke down.

But you did not explain the ingenious clutch which comes in when lowering the load. You explained only the simple parts which may be learned intuitively by simple gearing ratios , but the slipping clutch when lowering and non slipping while raising the load would have been beneficial to many viewers.
