To create this weave we suggest the following:
14G(1.6mm) 3/16"(4.76mm)ID OR
16G(1.2mm) 3.50mmID OR
18G(1.0mm) 1/8"(3.18mm)ID OR
20G(0.8mm) 2.50mmID
2 pairs of smooth jawed pliers:

It always blows my mind on how chainmail pieces come out! This piece especially! I love your step-by-step videos so much! I'm a newby to all this so I love! -also, would a 16g 1/4" work ok here?-

Hey Craig, glad that you are enjoying the videos. Part of your question is crossed out but I will answer it just in case....that ring size would be too large and the weave just wouldn't hold it's shape properly. Often you can use a wide range of sizes for most weaves but this one is pretty particular about the size of the rings. Deb

Can the same ring sizes be used for a sheet?

Alex I have never done it in sheet form (not really my thing) but according to Maille Artisans website the sheet version has an ideal AR of 3.9 while the chain variant is 3.2 so no, these sizes wouldn't work for the sheet version. HTH Deb
