What really bothered me was that no one was willing to have decent communication with one another, especially Lucie. She kept secrets from so many people, her parabatai and her brother. A lot of the problems with the book could've been resolved by talking about it.

I doubt Henry and Charlotte gave him an ultimatum. I’d guess Matthew reacted badly when they tried to confront him about his drinking and in a rage decided to leave. And also since Charlotte is consul she probably gets one of the highest salaries from all shadowhunters, which would make them extra rich.

The significance of the sheath was that there was heavy magical protection placed on it, so Elias really did give his daughter a wonderful gift. Lilith probably commented on it because she was having difficulty getting around it, she mentions this during the confrontation towards the end.

i don't think we'll get the black volume of the dead until after chain of thorns because both books will have massive implications on The Wicked Powers and I feel like it makes more sense for The Last Hours to end first because what happens in Chain of Thorns will likely also influence what happens in the Black Volume of the Dead with all the princes of hell thing that was hinted at in the epilogue of The Lost Book of the White so it makes sense to explain what happens in chronological order

When they talk about Belial they do say he can look like whatever he wants. I’m guessing that only princes of hell and Lilith can do it and since they’re rarely seen, the shadowhunters wouldn’t have taken precautions against it.

There's a different between what Tessa can do to other demons. BTW Lilth is the mother of all demons ofc she can shifts to other people. Tessa can draw their memories and personalities and that what really special about her.
