I feel so sorry for poor James.. but i feel even more sorry for Cordelia damn that ‘Thank God’ must have hurt her so much.

The ending killed me. I do not want to have to wait a whole year for the next book.

It’s been days since I finished and I’m still not okay. I just can’t get over how James is going to have to tell his whole family that he hasn’t completely been himself for years and how that’s going to affect him in chain of thorns🥺 I thought it was Matthew being the killer too for a while 😂 after watching this vid I just want to reread already lmao

The Herondales are really known for their “wrong timings” seriously why does James have to say “thank God”he could have said “what have you done”something like that (sigh) well it’s not his fault but Matthew my poor Matthew if he knew that everything was actually just a misunderstanding and thought maybe he has a chance with Cordelia....I just don’t know what to do anymore thomastair is a totally fail, Anna and Ariadne .......sob sob ahhhhh!! Why is every relationship in coi has to be so complicated and I have to wait a year AGAIN for the other book😭😭😭😓😓

I feel like I'm alone rooting for Lucie and Jesse LOL I love them so much. Yes, I think we needed more scenes of them realizing they loved each other but what we got from them was still wholesome nonetheless. Anyway, loved your video so much and I'm thankful it was a long one

I had the desire upon finishing the book to scream "son of a bitch" and it can apply to Will for stopping James by telling him about Lucie; James for answering the doorbell/ not having Cordelia be present for the "showdown" with Grace; Myself for noticing something (after the showdown with Beliel and Lilith when Cordelia was wounded and freaking out about Lilith- James heals her with a rune and saying "Daisy my love I am so sorry") that makes the ending even worse and then I have One of Us by Iron playing on a loop in my head (specifically "feeling stupid, feeling small wishing she had never left at all"); Lucie for not talking to her parents and basically everyone is a sob except Christopher and I am anxious my guys a lot can happen in a week; and miscommunication is a pain in the ass

SPOILER COMMENT: CAN YOU JUST IMAGINE WHEN WE GET THE MOMENT WHEN TESSA FINDS OUT LUCIE HAS DELVED INTO NECROMANCY. And not to mention, when she finds out not one but TWO of her children (Kit) have delved into necromancy to bring back those with the last name Blackthorn. The Wicked Powers and Chain of Thorns will RUIN us 😭

I have not known a single day of peace since I’ve finished this book and the fact that Chain of Thorns might be pushed back is not helping!!

It's a good thing u've caught up and read the entire TDA before this....I think Chain of Iron ruins some surprises in Lady Midnight

I saw someone else's theory (which I will now be taking as canon because its the only thing I can accept) that Matthew was never actually in love with Cordelia, but because James wasn't able to recognize his love for her because of the fucking gracelet, it manifested in Matthew because of their parabatai bond. So now that James is free of Grace, and his love for Cordelia can actually be channeled through him, Matthew's feelings for her will start fading away. I really hope this is true bc I adore Matthew and refuse to see him have his heart broken, and I'm also really not sure that Cassie would do the whole "parabatai in love with the same girl" in the series that is TID's immediate sequel. On a side note, I'm terrified that Matthew is going to die

omg yessss I waited the whole weekend for this!! 😍 okay so thoughts after watching... honestly no thoughts head empty just pain and screeching noises. Totally agree on Lucie, girl pls let it go James would have been on that train at least! I honestly am sad there was not much Matthew in this book though I understand why. Seeing James and Cordelia being all domestic, knowing fully well we could have had it all yet having taking it away from us?!?!? I knew it was coming but I'm still shocked and in pain! 😭💔

i also found lucie quite annoying in this book (and the fact that her and jessie's relationship was so rushed but whatever), BUT i'm kind of into the idea of her going full dark. it's not going to happen because cc doesn't do stuff like this to her main characters... :/ also so proud that you got send the chain of iron box. from you reading the whole shadowhunter chronicles last year to receiving the exclusive arc of choi this year - a moment most pleasing to me in my career!!

I loved watching this. I loved how thankful you were that you got an arc(alhamdulilah indeed). Pretty much agree with everything. Except maybe your thoughts on Lucie cause I ate that shit up. My favourites by far were Lucie and Jesse scenes(though I wish Cassie did not make a 4 month gap, cause going in they were already in love, which meant we missed "the realization" scene) but ow well, I lived for them anyway. I loved Lucie becoming a morally grey charachter(i see where julian gets it from), these new powers make her question her morality and she can either let it go, which is the rational thing to do or bring him back with her powers, that does not require killing or hurting anybody else, and as we know love is not rational-especially when it's a lovesick 16 year old girl. Plus, not yall blaming 16 year old girls for delivering the thruth that even Malcolm's closest friends hid for him for no apparent reason. His actions are his own actions. The truth would have come out one way or the other. Now about THAT ENDING, miscommunication continuous to be the main villain of a cassie book. I felt it was a bit OOC for Cordelia to simply leave after simply hearing "thank god", we've seen her eavesdrop before and she's always determine to find the real thruth and for her to leave so abruptly was just weird to me.

Listening to your recount of the ending I had a thought that is a super far-fetched theory but is a theory nonetheless: Will felt super off in that last interaction between him and James. I wrote it off as his worry for his daughter, but what if there’s something more? Is there any way that Will was Lilith or one of Lilith’s demons in disguise??
