Great video! Once I saw the bar idea, I remembered I had an old bar in the garage, and went right out and slapped it in the vise and went to town. Bought the Stihl sharpener last weekend and love it, works great! Now I am in great shape for sharpening! Also, thanks for the tip on hand sharpening versus machine sharpening regarding temper. Good stuff!

Good to see you back, never knew two things needed filing on a chain, or that wheel sharpeners destroy chain teeth tempering but it does make sense, and we just ordered another abrasive wheel sharpener , I do like the stihl sharpening tool now that you taught me how good it is, also the chain holder with locking cams isn't a bad idea, easier than fighting with the chainsaw while sharpening. We cut Hard wood too I actually thought of looking for a bigger and better chainsaw for the crazy hard wood here in WA , The axe just bounces off it and yes its dry wood, cutting with the grain.

Does that sharpener really work? I do a lot of bore cuts in hardwood. Does it take the rakers down propper? In my experience rakers are touchy.

@Woodworkingmasterclass
@Woodworkingmasterclass 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Barry, No not if you have the right file. To small a file will make them bite in a bit, to large a file and they tend not to cut well. Cheers Steve
