This is the best live performance of "Through the Fire" that I have ever heard. Those background singers where killin it. Chaka was channeling gospel, jazz, soul, and the spirit. It is amazing.

Whether it was transformed to gospel or not, CHAKA KILLED IT! if ur musically inclined, whether ur a Christian or not, u know that she put her all into this song vocally. This was no ordinary vocal performance. I'm still taken back by how her voice sounds like a trumpet and how she's right in the center of those notes. NOT TO MENTION, the background vocals r smashin. MY GOD SHE MURDERED THIS SONG! I am truly a fan now.

I really don’t understand how anyone could dislike this audio. If you watched it live then you know how intimate this performance was. I watched it live and it always stuck with me. She is giving her testimony and that is something we never really heard Chaka do. This rendition is just absolutely unique. You can feel so much of her emotion. She was even hitting ranges that you probably haven’t heard her hit in many years. Yeah we know Chaka can get up there but she just kept pushing the limits. This one is a gem. ❤️

The Celebration of Gospel isn't mainly an event to sing Gospel music...That's not the purpose of the event. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the Gospel, which is Jesus Christ...Everything sung is to glorify him. She sang this song in a sense to glorify God to let people know she went Through the Fire in the search for God...People, stop being so religious, and closed minded to things. Lighten up..She sung the song, get over it, she did a MARVELOUS job, and had the best vocals on the show

At the end of the day..Everyone's opinions does not matter, because when it comes down to the WIRE...God makes the final judgments..He judges the heart, and all this extra stuff you all are speaking of can go up the creek. Just make sure you're living your life right the best you can. Don't be quick to turn the mirror on someone else situation, but can't turn the mirror on yourself! But Christ sake, the woman sang the song to testify. Just appreciate the point of it...The audience received it!

Anyone doubting Chaka's credentials as a gospel singer listen to "Going Up Yonder","Faith",Only Once","Roll Me Through The Rushes"!!!"Walk With Me Lord","Let The Trumpets Sound","He'll Be Your Strength","The Heavens & The Earth" 7 the list goes on!!! That voice is annointed & ya'll can't take it!!! Lol!!! Chaka wasn't even raised on "Gospel" music & can out sing most gospel singers out there,in fact she is admired by & a musical inspiration to many of them!!! You don't know who God uses!!!

For the record...When singers sing songs on The Celebration of Gospel it is not up to the artist to sing a certain song. The musical director picks what songs they want to be sung for the event. So, blame Ray Chew! Chaka was only following direction!

@WH012 Lord have mercy...You need a whole lot of bible class, prayer, AND supplement. Listen...You'll understand the presence of God once you start to believe in him. To say you believe in him, and not KNOW him...You are not a true believer. You do not believe in the Word of God. That is one reason why you don't KNOW he exist. You need to build a personal relationship with God. He speaks to you through your everyday life, and the world.

@Who12..God dwells in the heart of believers not a building or bathroom. Christ reconciled us sinners to God. The scriptures say that unbelievers seek proof, signs and wonders. You see things in the natural and God does not deal with us in the natural but in Spirit because that's what He is. We believers come to Him in Spirit and in Truth.

All the "TESTS" He allowed her to go through have led her to this moment to be on that stage & give her "TESTIMONY" of how God's Grace,Mercy,& Love changed her!!! I’ve listened to 4 live versions and she never sings certain parts the way I like it or like the original in terms of what she say not how she say it. For example the “for a chance to be with u part” 1:41

@christianpreachr I agree, out of the hundreds of thousands of gospel songs that talk about how God brought you out of the fire, why revert back to a well known secular song on what is supposed to be a celebration of gospel. At the same token this is BET's celebration of gospel and not a real gospel christian affiliated show so anything goes. The song "Amen" Howard Hewitt sung was very fitting even though he's a secular artist

I am not a religious person because I do not believe in man made traditions in the buildings. If we love God then we need to follow his commandments and not man's. I'm dissapointed Chaka didn't sing an actual gospel song. There are videos posted on YT with Chaka singing "I'm Still Here" & "Secret Place" both of which she sings to absolute perfection ( better than the original recording artist). If you don't believe me, take a look for yourself.
