There aint nobody like Chaka Khan. The iconic singer celebrates 50 years in music by curating the 29th edition of the Southbank Centre’s annual Meltdown festival.
‘I was most intrigued about doing Meltdown for the opportunity to be a part of something that brings community together, it’s vital right now,’ explains Khan in this video looking ahead to her festival.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the ‘I’m Every Woman’ singer will put inclusion and connectivity at the heart of her festival plans, aiming to deliver a Meltdown that’s ‘about people coming together and supporting one another, without fear and with love’.
Chaka Khan’s Meltdown takes place at the Southbank Centre, 14 - 23 June 2024. The artists confirmed to be appearing at the festival, so far, include Todrick Hall, Speakers Corner Quartet, Incognito, Lady Blackbird, Morcheeba, Balimaya Project, Rahsaan Patterson, Mica Paris, Judi Jackson, House Gospel Choir, and of course, Chaka Khan herself.
Tickets for the festival’s confirmed gigs are now on general sale. Find out more: www.southbankcentre.co.uk/wha...
