To help with bubble teams, Psyonix should create a ranked club queue that can bleed into qualifiers for RLCS. Have a dedicated three player roster you queue into other rosters for a ranked system. Not sure on other logistics of it, but it would be nice for aspiring pros and casual players.

Not a fan of kicking a player the second results are not there. I couldn’t be more excited to see if these guys can figure it all out. If they don’t then fine but how could they know if they just split up and grab a new player. I agree that NRG needs to make a roster move in order to make any forward progress and I also understand why it's so hard to feel like you're upgrading when your roster is 3 of the GOATs but I think that a split brings fresh motivation to all involved, new perspective and a different playstyle. When this current roster is peaking they can compete with anyone but they're so up and down and I don't see it changing any time soon. Also Sizz is going to find success with whatever the fuck he chooses to do but it is for sure a sad break up.

Format I would like to see at LANs: 2 groups of 8. Everyone plays 7 opponents in their groups Bof5 (2 matches Tuesday, 2 matches, Wednesday, 2 Thursday, 1 Friday + any necessary tiebreakers). Top 4 in each group make it out. Then, you have single elimination bracket all Bof7, however, do NOT make it 1v8,2v7,3v6,4v5 for first round. Make it 5v8 and 6v7 for first round. Winner of 5v8 plays 4. Winner of 6v7 plays 3. Then winner of 5/8v4 plays 1 seed. Winner of 6/7v3 plays 2 seed for Semis. Winners of those 2 play in the Finals. Reasons to do this: It gives everyone plenty of chances to play their way through into the bracket and avoids "mickey groups/brackets" by having 7 group stage matches. This format also rewards the winners of each group by giving them a double bye in the bracket and the runners up in each group a single bye. It gives all teams a reason to try their best all the way through the group stage. It also gives all teams traveling to LANs at least 7 matches. I think it's absurd that in the double elimination format that some teams will fly across the world to only play two Bof5s and that's it. I understand this format probably does't work for online play in the regionals for the FRI-SUN schedule since that would likely be too many matches to cram in, but for Majors, I think this works very well.

Not gonna lie, no clue why they haven't added a 1v1 freestyle playlist. Freestylers won't guard each other's shots, so they get what they want. It's a separate playlist so silvers get what they want. It doesn't split the playerbase because the silvers aren't gonna go to the freestyle playlist, and freestylers shouldn't be in the regular playlist at lower mmr. They could separate the mmr from normal casual mmr and the freestylers will probably self-regulate who wins or maybe just not care since the clips are the real victory anyway.

RLCS is simply not big enough to promote/fund a proper bubble scene. It has to be community driven at the moment, which could still work to put eyes on players that can then be poached by RLCS teams. The only thing that is going to change that, long term, is putting all effort into RLCS and not dividing resources for bubble teams.

I truly do not believe that the purpose of freestyling in a lower casual mmr is to feel some sense of superiority. I used to trick shot in COD and there are a lot of similarities here. The biggest being that it appears to be solely about the clips themselves and the standards that the community has set. The community has set these standards for clips and that includes being in an online match and having a defender. In COD they used to have the last man alive setup in order to make it easier for the other team to hit something. You could say they should do it in a private match but that wasn’t what was acceptable at the time. Doing it in a private match invalidated the value of that clip. Setting up was the standard up until people in the community that were highly respected and influential(FaZe)decided that wasn’t how it should be, so setting up died off and was something you could actually be exposed for doing(invalidated the clip). It’s interesting because with setting up the standards became so impossibly high that the fun slowly dried out. That was until it became unacceptable and people started to try and clip on people that were trying their best. My point is that if freestyling is anything like trickshotting(which I believe it is), then playing in low rank casual lobbies is not for some sort of superiority, but rather is a product of a community of individuals who have gradually created such high standards for clips that they are nearly impossible to be hit in ranked(and they aren’t allowed to do them in private match without that clip losing value). Overall, this change may actually cause a major positive shift in the freestyling community where standards become lower as the comp clips become the standard. Just my thoughts on the subject, not a freestyler so correct me if I’m wrong. Also, wrote this on my phone so I’m sorry if it’s not the most logical and easily digestible.
@jaysteveo9632
@jaysteveo9632 Жыл бұрын
What high standard is a defender that can't defend the freestyle shot unless it's on the ground coming right at them. I would rather new players not be disenfranchised with the game by being clipped on by smurfs before they get to a good standard of play.
@OGKalos
@OGKalos Жыл бұрын
@@jaysteveo9632 The standards I’m referring to do not involve player skill at all. In trickshotting it didn’t matter how good the player was that you hit it on, the clip just had to check all the boxes In order to be good and have value. It couldn’t be in private match, it shouldn’t be hit on friends, and it had to be technically impressive. In regards to freestyling, having a defender in net in an online game just checks off boxes for it to be seen as a good clip. Furthermore, it makes complete sense to me that the progression of freestyling would lead to people doing it in lower rank casual lobbies. Since the standards for clips do not involve opponent skill, freestylers logically would go about making it as easy as possible for themselves while still adhering to what’s acceptable. It’s all a different mindset, skill and competition is not a factor in my opinion. However, I totally agree with you that because rocket league is a competitive game, it simply isn’t fair to new players. I just don’t think freestylers are doing it to be malicious or to assert their superiority over others.
@FunkiMonki69
@FunkiMonki69 Жыл бұрын
Some nuance about the Freestyle thing. If you tank 1000mmr on purpose, yeah get fucked. What I don't understand is everybody saying they should only do it in ranked or private matches... like let a guy live... It should be fine to chill in casual and fuck around and lose some games like when did that become illegal in the eyes of the community? Also Johnny saying the only reason Freestylers are low rated is because they wanna clip on noobs is the most disgusting slander I've heard so far. Makes you wonder whether he's ever even seen or talked to one before. Edit: Bruh so painful to listen to somebody's opinion on how Freestyle tournies should be run when the only one they've seen is the one at Worlds smh

Honestly it's the truth, as a diamond player playing casual trying to improve I see so many GC tournament winners just flip reseting running the whole lobby. Has completely killed my motivation to even play the game cause I know I'm just gonna get clipped om everytime I log in by a dude with 7000 hours on rl. Really frustrating psyonixs should actually do something make a game mode for freestyles or something cause the new players from f2p aren't gonna stick around much linger if they haven't quit already like most my f2p friends.

@@matthewfriend294 You're correct and do you know how many got banned? That's right, 4 entire people got banned for those exact allegations. And now that some have done that on purpose the entire community is going after Freestylers as a whole. Nobody disagrees that you shouldn't lower your mmr on purpose but the debate has shifted towards whether Freestylers should even be allowed in casual and it has popular people in the community with large followings such as Johnny talk completely out of their ass, bad-mouthing and insulting the character of perfectly fine people. If your honest opinion is that legitimate Freestylers like Faith and Mesko or whoever else is going around clipping on beginners to feel better about themselves then you're just lost.
@StuzzyB
@StuzzyB Жыл бұрын
What I took from the discussion was finding the validity in clips on lower ranks. So tanking MMR is wrong as you say but "accidentally" tanking MMR isn't dissimilar. If all I wanted to do was drive in reverse in casual just for fun but kept losing and eventually I was at a rank I could score driving in reverse, does that make me insane at driving in reverse? Not really. If you want casual to have a none skill based matchmaking I can understand that. Then if it's not for validity what is it for? I can't answer for Johnny but I assume then it must be down to clipping on a human that wants to defend the shot but can't. Sorry for the long reply.
@FunkiMonki69
@FunkiMonki69 Жыл бұрын
@@siffertime1642 Well I don't see the problem to be honest bc that's what casual is for, not for improving. I don't think those GC tourny winners are doing anything wrong bc they probably hardly play cas and when they do they fuck around, all resulting in the low mmr. On top of that those aren't even freestylers, but I've noticed that ever since Psyonix made their statement on Freestlyers everybody and their mum has come out of the wood works to blame every smurf ever on them.

Idk I stay at random hotels all the time and can at least walk to a gas station to grab some drinks. Fortworth was a shit location for food variety. They could of had it in LA but I understand the busy schedule. But even on Uber eats, a lot of actual restaurants are open until 12-2am. You can get lazy dog and the really solid or BJs. At least in LA
