Excellent video. Thanks so much for sharing. I started building a Challenger at age 16 back in 2000. Then I met a girl and left for college and sold the project. Cue in 2020 and I'm getting ready to order the XL-65 kit. I appreciate your insight and attention to detail in this video. It has given me a few ideas I'd like to tweak and modify myself. Happy Flying! Mike - Bozeman, Montana

@@tommcclatchie7002 thanks for the kind words, they are a point of pride aren't they?! It was a mess and was a lot of work. Tore it down to less then Kit form and started over from scratch. Was almost a year of work every night and weekend. Probably would have been easier to start from a new kit but was fun. I am happy with the end result and she is a joy to fly. Keep posting videos, love seeing new Challenger Content! I will try as well! Cheers 🍺

First mods my dad and I made to a Challenger II was to cross brace the landing struts, and wedge the wing attachment points. The cross-braced landing struts allow us to run bush tires and land in the sage hills.

Brs ,spousely mandated.took a minute to sink in then i laughed so hard .i m a big believer in the installation of brs if possible however however shouldnt have to be compulsory of course.not afraid to fly without them but are as an extra safety idea that would hopefully get more people involved in flying. Obviously many reasons to not use it if no structural failure. Im thinking of starting my flying lessons again in the new year and am liking the look of your aircraft which at least looks more affordable than a lot of others. Greetings from Australia,i know a lot of people from Canada and have people i know living and working there. Would love to visit one day. Fly safe

That's a really nice looking aircraft. Easy to tell you put a lot of thought into having convenience and serviceability. Were the instructions for assembly good to work with? I like some of your personal touches like the louvre controls for the radiator.

I'm curious what prevents the chute lines from getting cut by the propeller with pusher aircraft - is there some kind of auto engine off that happens at the same time?

"Spousally mandated" ... Best remark of the whole video. Reminds me of a comment made by a customer ... Guy: You know why I went to the hospital ? His girlfriend: I made him go. Guy: I didn't want to go. His girlfriend: You have a mild concussion and sprained your ankle, dumbass. You married a good woman, she wants to keep you alive. :)

How much did the Spousally Mandated BRS cost? I anticipate I might face the same mandate to get SWMBO into the back seat eventually.

@@tommcclatchie7002 Thanks Tom! Yes I did. I have found one already built, comes complete with floats, skis, and a lot of the upgrades I would want. Really excited! However, I would definitely want to make some of those changes and customizations that you installed in yours. Those cup holders for example are a great idea!

I like the Wing Tanks instead of the cabin fuel tank. 20 Gallons total seems real reasonalbe for this type of plane. I wish KOLB would offer Wing Tanks as well.
