You two are certainly not just sitting around the campfire! I like the urban life, too, and dipping in and out of urban life mingled with traditional camping environments can be a good combination. Keep inspiring us.

Champaign-Urbana is an easy place to get fat in! SO many good choices! You hit all my favorites! Golden Harbor's crispy tofu is one of favorites!! Thanks for showing our town in such a positive light!

Riggs is always quite busy! I drive by there quite a lot. If you want to go with a group and not let it be too crowded, try to go on a Monday-Wednesday or in the morning.

This video excited my taste buds! I was stationed in Korea for 14mos when I was in the Army. I was laughed at for all the "Strange" food I'd eat. Live baby octopi, 1000yr old eggs (that you hate Joe lol), stinky tofu, shark eyeballs, etc! I absolutely LOVED IT ALL!! This vid is absolutely awesome-I could easily lose my mind in Champagne/Urbana! For a small town, they have a nice variety of eateries...me likey mucho! Cheers guys!

What an awesome blog, bookmarking all of these to try. I called my sons girlfriend (who is Chinese) and told her to watch this because she lives fairly close to Illinois and she texted me right after watching and said she has to take a road trip there, lol, My hubby cant wait to try all of it, me, not so much, but will enjoy watching everyone else enjoy. Thanks for this wonderful blog share.

Whew, I was worried that you missed out on the crispy tofu at Golden Harbor for a second there. That stuff is seriously addictive. There's another Chinese place with two locations in town called Rainbow Garden that has a battered chicken dish with lots of garlic, honey, and cashews that we always fight over. We're not a big city by any stretch, but the huge international student population at the U of I means that we have a ton of restaurant options. Weirdly, I didn't know about that Indian place. We'll have to check it out sometime. If you ever swing through again, you should check out Maize Mexican Grill and Jarling's Custard Cup. And Steak 'n Shake for the sheer Midwestern-ness of it all.

+CantankerousDave Thanks for the tip about Rainbow Garden, we will look it up when we go back to Champaign. Maize was on our list but we decided to skip it due to the long lines during graduation time. Let us know what you think of Sitara!

Hah, yeah, things get pretty crowded here on weekends with big university functions. I'm glad that your nose led you to Columbia Street Roastery from downtown Champaign and that Black Dog didn't disappoint. Oh, and there's a drive-in movie theater called the Harvest Moon in a nearby town that you might want to check out just to say that you've been to one. They're a rarity now, but we used to have two here in town when I was a tyke.

I've lived in CU for close to 20 years Papa Del's is the only place you went to eat that I've heard of. I must not be a foodie. Since the Columbia Roastery video I've been hoping for a CU vid and you did not disappoint. PS: I'm a townie, seldom venture into Urbana. Thanks

How fun catching up with a college friend! Preserved eggs, I'm with you... ugh. I recently saw a food show and the guy tried to eat 100 year old eggs, he said it was very vinegary. Andddd, I'm only saying it as a joke because of your other video... but, look at 7:05, LOL, there's another white van in your window, bahaha, I had to go there ;) Oh man, those rib tips and brisket look phenomenal. How do you guys not gain tons of weight with all those good pickins? I'd love to see more videos with Leo :) Thanks friends, enjoyed your video!

+lbird haha we didn't even notice the white van this time. definitely put on a few pounds after Champaign and we're still working it off. After editing this video we decided we need to go back and have more rib tips so looks like we might be in Champaign again in a few months.

OK you all are officially Foodies ...You guys were in Asian food heaven between the grocery and the restaurant..very nice! Knife and folk with pizza? No NY'er would be caught dead doing that,LOL. BBQ looked fantastic as did the Indian dishes... great video...

Had a ex gf that went to college at the University of Illinois. She was always bragging about the food. After 4 years of college I broke up with her. The last thing I remember saying to her was " stick out your arm so I can tell if you are walking or rolling".
