If you’re wondering if you still have a chance of getting your ex back, there are a lot of things you could be looking out for.
Most of them are things that people arbitrarily decide are important, but actually aren’t. Once such example is who is initiating contact more.
This ultimately doesn’t even matter when it comes to signs your ex wants you back because you and your ex aren’t going to get back together because someone is contacting the other more often.
You are going to get back together if your interactions feel good on an emotional level. That’s it. End of story.
And who is contacting who is an action, but it says nothing about what the emotional impact of that action may be. It makes no difference if your ex is contacting you all the time if every time you interact, it drives the two of you further apart.
So, if you really want to know the odds of getting back together or if couples get back together after a breakup at all, then you don’t need to look at a list of random clues and hints.
You just need to look at whether or not your ex and you are enjoying yourselves as you interact with one another.
If the emotional connection is strong and improving, then that is the only sign you need to look for.
At this point, people will ask me how do they know if they are having a positive interaction with their ex or not?
And the answer is that the two of you are actually opening up and becoming more honest with one another about your thoughts and feelings.
So often we hide how we truly feel to try to look cool or try to seem as if we care less than we really do, but that is nothing more than a mask that conceals the truth.
And the truth is showing how you really feel is going to bring you and your ex much closer than trying to hide how you feel and putting on an act.
So, be okay showing how you feel, and if you can do that, then that is one of the biggest signs that you have a chance of getting back together with you r ex.

Why did my ex tell me that I looked happier without him and why is he staying at his parents every night instead at his house? He also said he didnt wsnt things to go to how they were and asked if I was seeing anyone and told me everyone keeps asking about me and if we are going to get back together as well as saying how girls call him damged goods.he has also been hot and cold as well

I may believe I have changed but it only happened after he mentioned a break but he isn't sure. We have been in a long distance for almost two years n this break happen before I could get to London in three weeks. It was in a no contact ish where we do respond each other on Instagram but very limited. So short ended answers. Going there would not be a coincidence so what can I do but wait for him to reach out?

Even though this is an older video, it hit my feed at just the right time. Riding the dragon, if you will, is not for the weak at heart. Tough weekend of filling in gaps with my own negative thoughts on top of not feeling well physically made me almost want to give up. I’m going to step back today and get my head right, and then get back out there. Working on building a bridge so that I can walk the path with someone I really love. I still believe. Just tired today.

Your videos have really helped me because they're a lot more positive than a lot of the other "ex back" B.S. people. Also I really like how you don't talk about manipulation. You just talk about feelings and bettering yourself first and emotionally connecting. I've been wide away in bed at 3 AM crying my eyes out over this breakup and I feel better and more positive after watching one or two of your videos.

I think the best thing you can do for yourself is to heal from the intensity of your breakup emotions and once you get out of what I call "Damage Control Mode" ( when people are desperately trying to undo the breakup) you have the capacity to cultivate Relational Skills that can inspire a deep connection with your ex. Hi Joshua, It's okay if you believe that faith will help you get your ex back. But aside from faith. the passive approach will do absolutely nothing but keep you as a spectator in life as you pray that things finally change. The only way to take control of your love life is to take an active role in it. Learn the skills to deepen connection, your relationship had a major flaw, to begin with right before the break up happened, right? Why not work on the interpersonal skills that you'll need to prevent ANY future breakups happening again, with or without your ex. All the best.

I think this guy is telling people what they want to hear. Nothing can be guaranteed and it all depends on the people. When me and my ex spilt, I was the one that initiated the split. After a few months I realized I made a mistake. I had lost weight, cleaned myself up, went through with my plans to start a business and so one. I was a better man than when we broke up. But it still depends on the person

This guy recently decided to stop partying and grow up. He got a good job and was working on himself when we reconnected-we met at a job the previous summer. We got into a romantic relationship and then he decided that he still needs to work on him and he can't have a relationship right now. I went on a trip and when he found out I came back to town he asked to hang out. We did and we defiantly didn't act like "friends". A week later he decided to not to continue the romantic relationship. That I'm great and what not but he can't get into a relationship for a "long time" until he gets to where he wants to be on his own, but he continuously said he didn't want to lose me completely because he needs some one like me in his life but we just need to be friends. I cut contact completely. It's been a week. Now what? Is there no hope?

Thank you so much Clay. Every time I'm struggling I watch one of your videos and feel better afterwards. You always find the right words. My ex is my dream guy and I wanna get him back - we're still on good terms and he said himself that we were a good match, we just over complicated things. So I strongly believe that we will have another and better chance in the future somehow.

My ex-girlfriend and I had been together since Jan 2017. Pretty tough start as I came from a 6 year relationship and shit didn't started well. My former ex from the 6 year relationship threw alot of hurtful word to my ex. And as the months go by, some of my relatives banged a joke on her saying my ex from 6 years is much better than my present ex. We also had plenty of arguements and she became a stockpile. We broke up last jan 2018 and its been a month, i begged, pleaded, and I cried like baby whenever i didn't get the results that I want. About a week ago I sent her an apology letter expressing all my regrets and didnt even wrote anything pointing about her mistakes. She was still firm with her decision of not letting me in her life again, she may have forgiven me but she cannot forget all the painful words that I've thrown to her. And after that I started no contact without any plan, just want to let things cool off and think of the things that caused our relationship. But one day she messaged me , she was texted by our housemaid that I'm sick and she texted me right away , showing concern and I hate to say this I broke no contact. After that We talked about getting back together but she was still holding on her decision firmly. I asked her to delete my mom on Facebook because my mother became upset after we broke up. I dont want to see my mother cry again. So she refused to delete and I even asked her to block my facebook so that It would be alot easier for the two of us. But she refused again telling me If I really wanted to get rid of her , I must do it myself. So a day after I texted her,asking her to watch a movie but she asked me I thought u will stop, what happened dude, so as a desperate person I replied it would be best if she would tell her to my face in person that she didnt love me anymore,and if she may, block me on facebook so that there will be peace of my for the both of us. She seened my message and things got out of control as I messaged her if she is dating somebody else, and she became furious again,she said she felt very low. And we had an arguement again. Now im thinking of doing a 30 day no contact, any thoughts should I fight for it or move on?

Bro, you're are 150% on point wit me on this one...... Exactly what I'm going through and she has a rebound that she admits on numerous occasions he is that. Her hot and cold spells, well last night we talked all night, moving in, getting married and kids. Then today, nothing. It happened six days ago and it's been like this ever since. The communication has def. picked up. And let me just say, this is mostly my fault, I have admitted to them and they are ALL very fixable. And one thing my girl knows about me is that I absolutely don't make promises I know I cant keep.....

We broke up 5 yes ago yes 5, we had a really special relationship though, we have stayed in on and off contact, and lately been talking a lot almost everyday, he does have a girlfriend but their relationship is a flop she treats him so badly it makes me sad seeing it happen, we don't see each other in person, but we spoke on the phone for a moment today it felt nice to hear his voice again, we started talking about a lot of old memories today and just how much fun we really had, in starting to feel close to him again I just don't know if he feels the same if him and his girlfriend break up I feel like there is a chance of getting back together but who knows really, just nice being able to call him friend at the moment.

If you guys are talking everyday, having those kind of conversations about his girlfriend and sharing memories, then he's treating her badly as well. I wouldn't even want an ex back if he was talking poorly about his new girlfriend to me, and sharing memories about our past with me. That says a lot about his character. I wouldn't be able to trust him if we were to get back together. Always remember, there are to sides to every story. Your ex is sharing with you because he knows he can have you back... He share with you because he wants to keep you in his back pocket just in case things don't workout with his ex, or nothing else better comes along. If his relationship is that bad with his girlfriend he can just break up with her...

Amy Sunshine why would you want to get back with someone that left you and got into another long term relationship? He’s still in contact to make sure you are still available and around. He’s feeding you little by little to string you along. Forget that guy. You don’t deserve that. Is that real love to you? You are better then that. Cut him off. No contact at all and move on. I feel bad for good people. Find someone who wouldn’t leave you in the first place and if they needed space wouldn’t get with another girl because he can’t see himself with anyone else.

I know you probably won’t ever see this comment, or maybe you will. But, I’m going to write it anyways. Hopefully people in the comment section could help me out or just listen. I dated my ex for about 6 months. I was going through some crap, which isn’t a real excuse but I decided to break up with him out of nowhere. I didn’t really understand the weight of the situation, I thought he would try to stop me or convince me otherwise but he didn’t. He kind of shut down and shut everyone out. It’s been a little over a year and we still talk to each other. But definitely not how we used to. He was so sweet to me before, but now it’s like he’s decent to anyone that isn’t me. When we’re in a call with other people he acts so genuine with them but when it comes to me it’s like he’s bothered or can’t be bothered. It honestly hurts me but I do suppose I deserve it. I haven’t dated anyone since him and he hasn’t dated anyone either. He talks about other girls in front of me like it’s nothing and it makes my heart ache. He is perfect, he’s so sweet and kind. But when I look at him now he doesn’t seem that way at all. I want to go back to seeing him this way but it’s so hard. I try my best to be kind to him but he just brushes it off or will ask why I’m acting like that. I really really miss him. I want to just scream that I love him but I’m so afraid of what he’ll say or how he’ll react. I’ve even apologized about the breakup and he just ignored it and played it off as a joke. I can tell that when I talk about a guy he kind of gets irritated. But is it because he likes me too? Or he’s just annoyed with me. I’m at the point where I can’t do this anymore. I feel like I’m putting in so much and in return I’m getting nothing. I want to tell him I like him but I’m so scared. He’s all I can think about, I just want to know if he thinks of me too, then I have something to work off of. I wanted to tell him by the end of the week but now it looks so like it’s unrealistic. Should I tell him how I feel, or should I just try to move on from him... I’m really struggling any advice is appreciated! (I tried my best to describe the situation as best I could , I understand if I sound selfish, I think I am too) Sorry for the long comment TL;DR : Me and my ex talk a year after our break up he’s cold with me and I want to tell him how I feel.

I'm not sure about 1-4 but number 5 really nails it for me. Especially the halfway part about the mixed signals,hot and cold and so on. I'm literally at the mixed signals/hot and cold point and it's doing nothing but staying stuck at that point. What do I do? When should I say I had enough? She also keeps mentioning other females that don't exist and recently, she's accused me of flirting with other females a year ago (which never happened) and told me to go to another female with a super nasty attitude. Even the past couple of weeks we've hung out and almost each time,we kissed,hugged,held hands,she laid my hand on her thigh as I drove then a few days later,she completely flips the script and is just back to rude and hateful to me. This has been going on since February. HELP!!!!

Hi Joe, It seems like your ex is trying to test you and how you would handle the situation. Maybe it's time to step back a bit so she can sort her own thoughts and self. It can be challenging to convince someone who has their own narratives and believes on their own personal truth. Remember to take care of your well-being as well.

So apparently I broke my ex heart for the second time around. She came back in my life after two years and we started to get back into a relationship a bit too fast. Unfortunately because of my trust issues she's completely upset and it's been a week since we've interacted with each other. I called her yesterday to approach her on how she feels about us and whats going on. She was very emotional on the phone crying and letting everything out. She told me that she will be my friend but she can't see us in a relationship. I told her that I understand her points but I cant be her friend because I simply love her more than just a friend. She is coming back to my house to have a more deep talk with me (eventually from her words) but is there a chance for me to get back with her. After that situation I changed my ways for the better but I want her and I to fix this and not give up. I really need some good pointers her.

Then I told him that I might ask to move forms...then he started having a go at me saying things like "Fine go on then! Hi Clay, am I at the hot and cold stage? It has been 6 months since we're seperated. And I was going better, untill he made some contact. Saying I was his first love and that I still mean a lot to him, to end up with 'but our relationship was over'. I found it difficult that, since our breakup, we had contact after a month, than a month nothing, and then a month ago he's still asking how I'm doing. That he misses my mom and wants to speak to her. But after the sweet things he's still convinced it was the best decision. We had a relationship for 8 years, from our 16 until 24. And still I'm not the same person. I still miss him sooo much! As I said: it went better. And I know hearing of him is a bad thing, but when I hear of him or see his name pupping on my phone, my heart skips a beat. He still wants to be able to talk to me, because he found this normal after 8 years. And he hopes some day I will be able to. Saying he still cares for me, wants to see and talk to me. I just don't know what it is. It's driving me crazy because what should I do?? I'm still holding on because of that.. After 6 months now I deciced to block him. On Facebook, on Instagram. And he 'understood' it. He found it a shame, but he understood the reason why. I'm just so confussed. I wasn't reaching out for about 2 months, and then, al of a sudden, he contacted me trough Instagram asking about a furniture. I was short and distant, and after a short sentence, he went straight back at: "how are you doing?" "Are you seeing someone else?" 'I hope your next boyfriend will give you everything you want and need, because you deserve it". etc etc. What should I do? And why does he wants to stay in touch? here`s a question for ya. My ex and i had been dating for almost 2 years and we were (still are) like best friends throughout the whole thing, just with the added perks of "i love you" and saying "I have a girlfriend" (No sex cause we arent into that) Well my ex has had some trauma from a young age making her fall onto the Asexual/Aromatic spectrum. Usually i would never say something like this, but since it came from trauma (At least the romantic part) i have hope she can recover enough to realize she can feel love. Right now she thinks she cant feel affection, but i`ve seen her feel it. I know she can. Unlike my previous relationships, i could see a future with her even when times got hard. still think there`s a chance?

But if your ex's well being and relationships are affected by her past traumatic experiences, that is something that has to be evaluated and assessed by a licensed professional. HI Adam, That can be another way of seeing it. What is important is that we avoid making deeper damage if the possible opportunity will come in our way. As human's we are prone to reactions.. that is normal.. as we have feelings, thoughts and emotions. So it is inevitable that we may respond to certain situations. But making ourselves more aware of what we can and can avoid will truly be helpful in our journey. :-)

I'm sorry to hear that you have to go through some rough spots on your journey, Krissy. What you are going through can truly be confusing emotionally and that same goes to your ex. If I were to assess your current dynamics, it seems like your ex is in the Test Drive phase. This can be a confusing phase for both people. Remember that the Test Drive Phase is when your ex may lower his reactance and open himself emotionally. But of course, he may also have his own hesitation and probably, both of you are still trying to get the feel of the new dynamics. That is why you have to gain his trust and comfort level by gradually making him feel good about being with you without any ulterior motives. All the best.

My boyfriend of two years and I have been broken up for 2 months now. I already did no contact for one month and reestablished contact with him for another month. We are friendly and sometimes flirty, but I am still the one initiating the conversations and it is still awkward. When people ask him about us he hasn't denied it and has not told them that we have broken up but he calls it "complicated". However I am still the picture on his lockscreen and he hasn't deleted any social media pictures. On Christmas I wrote him a letter telling him how I felt and how I still loved him but I didn't give him an ultimatum because I didn't want to pressure him to make a choice. Hi Krissy, I'm sorry to hear about the breakup with your fiancé and we understand how heartbreaking it can be. But the good thing here is that both of you have agreed to start things from scratch. Which we feel is a healthier way to rebuilding the relationship. You don't have to define whether you love him or not at this point because you will likewise need to heal from the pain. But what you can do is to focus on building the connection. Then in the end, you can reevaluate if your feelings for him is still the same and if your personal values do still align with him. What if it's not a matter of my ex hating me or anything like that but him feeling like he doesn't want to screw up my life... he thought he was and even after we talked about it for quite a while I don't think he was convinced. I also think he was scared of hurting me but if anything I think that breaking up with me was the one of the ways he could hurt me most. We are still friends and are still talking a lot and it's not too different than when we were in our relationship except there's a bit of friend zoning, which feel like means I'm probably not going to have a second chance with him but I don't know. I just know that I've never loved someone this much in my entire life and that I just want him to be happy and he seemed really happy when we were together but now he just seems really really depressed and like he hates himself and it sounds like I'm being selfish or that I'm trying to twist the situation to get what I want but I don't even want the relationship for myself anymore I just want to see him happy again. ... wow... sorry for vomiting my emotions in the comment section xD but really if anyone has any real advice that'd be great.

This shifts his understanding from you wanting to get back together (and not being interested in where he is at emotionally), and it puts it on simply the connection you have together. I would also be less focused on the outcome of "getting back together" and more focused on the emotional connection. The relationship will organically arise out of a strong emotional connection, so focus on the connection. Sharing how you felt was not a mistake. The only mistake is to make him responsible for how you feel. Your chances are not ruined, but you've got to have interactions that feel good on an emotional level.

Can anyone give me any advice? i have broken up with my boyfriend about a year ago now and i broke up with him as i was going through some situations. I needed space and time alone. I probably broke up with him in a undecent way and I admitt that the way i said it to him was quite harsh. As soon as i broke up with him, he asked me why i broke up with him. I could not bring myself to telling him about what was really going on in my life. That was probably my biggest mistake. In a hurry and panic, of course I said the most possible stupid answer. I told him i had to focus on my studies and although I did intact focus on my studies and i ended up bumping my mark to an unbelievable degree. I still wish i hadn't broken up with him. Anyway, as soon as I broke up with him, all contact between us was lost and we have not texted or spoken or called, not even to talk about it. I tried for so long to say sorry just genuinely as a friend and to say that I didn't mean it so harshly. Now it has ended up being a year and i am still missing him. I had recently forgot everything and nearly moved on but unlike other people, this guy is someone not as a boyfriend only but as a friend I had grown so found of. I wish that I had kept our friendship. Can anyone help me with any advice of how to at least have some close form of friendship. I am willing to hear and try anything as this is a friend ship I have to save. Please, please help me!!! I have waited and tried for a year, does anyone have anything that can just maybe help. ( There is more components to the story and and I know that lot of it sounds like something so dumb to do but this guy is someone who is so hard to be friends withers he is so closed off and being so close once is a big change; he is someone really easy to talk to about casual things if that helps )

my girlfriend did something very similar to me just recently. i dont want to talk to her unless she decides to try again at our relationship and i dont want to be just friends. but i have no idea if she wants me. do you think i should keep talking to her? since you are in a similar situation but from the opposite side? what would you want your ex to do?

Kendall Bigman honestly, I would love it if my ex gave me a chance to explain. Maybe not talking to her completely is not the best option. I feel like a lot was left unsaid and making sure I wish my ex would have given me that chance just to talk about it. as, it would have been a while since you have cleared out what had actually happened. You asked if you should keep talking to her, i think it depends on what you talk about, how you talk about it and how your conversations generally end. I find, really trying to understand your ex would help. I hope that helps, and would you and your ex ever talk about casual things or every be quite friendly or do you guys just back off from each other a little bit?

+Michelle Hallis when i talk to her she starts to have conversations but then she backs away. i asked her if it was okay if i check on her every now and then because i care about her. and she seemed happy i said that. then she backed away again. so i dont know if i should. i just want her in my arms again.

Kendall Bigman can you clarify 'backed away' ? because, I know I did the same as you to my ex and he noticeably backed away and I myself am confused as to why he does. I feel as if he is a bit scared of me in some scenes but he doesn't show if what i did hurt him or not. anyway, I have a friend that sounds just like you, in the scenes of how you talk about your ex and i think that you really need to just call her or some way of just finding a common ground as friends so nothing is awkward or un balanced between yo guys, but it really just depends on what you mean by her backing away.

Well she agreed to be friends and we talked everyday for about 3 days. We would have conversations then she started putting less words in her text like "thats food" or "okay". then i did something stupid 3 days later. I told her that i still loved her and i missed her and i wanted her back and what made it worse is that i was drunk texting. Now she doesn't text me at all. So i don't know if i should leave her alone or try to be friends. I just want to do anything i can to get her back but i don't know how.

agree, in my situation we were really serious (even though we had less than a year) and suddenly she gave up and I really tried everything but she got really mad and now hates me :(

I understand and I'm sorry about that, from my experience I decided to move on since I have no option yet I'll keep my heart for her if something happens in the future (I don't want to have any hopes or expectations and I have nothing against her) that what I mean, besides as I said it was serious so I don't really plan to look for someone else for some time

Hi clay This was interesting to listen too and definitely. Mine is a lesbian situation, I do see some signs on her end after she wants a break in our relationship. We did have a connection, we also went to school together in 1991. I felt for me I had drawn to her but was too young to know what I was feeling then. So guess we have a past connection and after some years of trying to track her down finally did.. anyway long story short, been nearly 5 weeks since she asked for a break. But feel past few weeks our texting communication is abit more than at the start of it. We are long distance and some things she displays now and then is how we were in the relationship. Like reacting with a 😍 on a photo I sent her and she hasn't done that while in the break same as good morning gif, she'll react with that also. But yes I do get the hot and cold some times and even tho we message I don't get the baby etc. Is that normal part of stage 5??

Hi Cindy, yes, it is normal to go through between Crisis Point and New Beginning. So be careful not to push him back further by having that feeling of need or attachment to the outcome.

Hi clay Yes, it took me about 2 weeks to allow her to msg me first and 90% of the time she will msg me good morning, some days we will talk quite a bit in a day or two and then half the communication the next. I know I'm not going to get my results with my anxiety and same with getting her back just like that. No such thing as a magic pill. Thanks heaps again !!
